In the market for a solid 65-75 inch TV (original, I know)

Greetings,

I've just splashed on some great bluray boxed sets and 4k content but I don't have a 4k TV to stream the 4k content (gasp).

So I need some help on what would be the best direction to go in, in terms of the perfect show/film TV. Preferably looking for something between $1200 - $2000 that can get the job done and will provide me with great streaming of shows/films.

There's too many options out there and it's just driving me nuts trying to figure out what is best for my situation.

Let me know if I should hold out for any specific models or what not and feel free to suggest options that exceed my budget (though not by much).

Thanks :D

all are solid. they have stopped coming in liquid and gaseous form

    • I see you and I admire you. + 1 for contribution.

  • Would you be interested in a high performance 6in model?

    • Yeah! I think anything from 60 inch onwards is good because I've got a 45 inch Samsung so there would be a huge difference

    • It sounds a bit small. Is it solid?

      • I'm not sure if you're playing on the 'solid, liquid, gas' comment from before or whether you're genuinely asking.

Regardless, It's decent. I had it replaced as some board on the back died but the replacement has been going good for the last 2-3 years. Just thinking of upgrading is all. Might use the samsung as like a side tv in the study or something. But I want to buy something reliable that's between 60-70 inch and will last me for the next 5-6 odd years

  • You can't beat Hisense P ranges right now.

65p6 or 75p7 are stupidly cheap and better than the more expensive brands at their price range.

    • Go with the P7

        Agreed 65P7 or 75P7

        • Will look into them! I've heard Hisense is great for its price, I've always been keen on Sony so Hisense would be new territory!

  • I am also in the market as well, how are the Kogan tv’s I need a 75in tv.

    • As people have replied to you in the previous Hisense deal, Kogan is rubbish. Nothing has changed in 4 days.

      • Why is Kogan rubbish? What do you lose out compared to the higher tier brands?

asking because thinking of putting one in a lounge with a console

        • Kogan TVs are consistently lowly rated by Choice for their picture and sound quality. Also there is very poor after sales support from Kogan if there is a problem with an item.

        • Adding onto what Pandamony has stated, they also consistently have terrible feedback in regards to their operating system, user interface, remote, and general lifespan.

You could probably nearly get away with one for the kid’s room or something, but even then you really may as well spend a little extra and get something with consistent and reliable reviews. There’s good reasons why OzBargainers love the 6 & 7 Hisense series in terms of bang for buck.

          • @Chickenleg: Ok cool fair enough.

Their advertising was really good but yeah reviews and personal anecdotes are better.

            Nearly fooled me.

Yeah Hisense P 6 and 7 series are great for value.

  • When I was dreaming about the 65 to 75 inch category I kept coming back to the Sony 75X8500 75X9000 range there was a few threads on it a few months back on a sale I forgot how much for now sorry but yeah that seemed to be a really good premium sweet spot if you weren't going for either TCL or Hisense which are cheaper but maybe a tiny bit inferior.

    • I've heard mixed things about Hisense with how it operates in low light situations. It probably depends on the model but the models I've looked at (between the $1000-$2000 bracket) have had people say that. I've heard they are decent though for the price. TCL I've also heard have some great TV's out right now but again, never used the brand and would prefer to go with something I know has served me well in the past.

A Sony TV would be good to compliment my PS4 and but again, I'd something pretty darn good for the movie and tv watching as that's my main reason for wanting to upgrade!

      • Fair enough.

Yeah a Sony TV with a Sony console seems like it should work best right? haha
