    I wouldn't recommend WD passport drives. They are not reliable. That's not to say desktop WD drives aren't good, they are. But these "passport" drives should not be relied on for important backups. Plenty of complaints online about people not being able to access the drives, and I've personally seen friends passports die the same way. Get something else.

      Some say that. My experience is not that. I have a Passport from about 8 years ago. Still going strong. Used weekly.

        Not all would fail of course, but there seems to be a lot that do. Whether the failure rate is confined to certain older models, who knows. I prefer portable hard drives that don't come bundled with backup software built-in, or encryption software and whatever else they shove in there. I think the bundled software might increase chances of corrupt drives, just a theory.

    Looks like these drives can't be used with standard sata connection. If the WD pcb dies, that's it

      The PCB can be replaced, though you need a donor board and the BIOS chip needs to be swapped.

      Amazon is infact pretty good with warranty. My last power adaptor was broken, even after almost a year, out of their return period, they refund me the money.

          The deal wasn't for a method to get a gift card. If it was then it's fine. The deal was for something the company has stated they can't honour as it's a mistake or something.
