Product review of UB820
Product review of UB9000 and brief comparison with UB820
In general, for UB820:
- remote is the smaller version
- no THX certification
- no coaxial digital output
- "doesn't have the build quality or the audiophile analogue performance" of the UB9000
- no phono outputs
- no XLR outputs

  • Good price for the UB820. Wondering when the refresh model will be announced/released?

are these still a thing ?

      Yes

For people who appreciate quality and have the components to justify it…. Yes.

Can’t agree more. Every time when I try to provide useful information why a dedicated player is better than using an Xbox one S/X, I got slammed in OZB. Oh well.. :(

Unless it's cheaper people often dismiss everything here. High end audio and visual products aren't something that this site really caters for imo.

I can clearly see the difference between Netflix 4K and 4k UHD player

      • +1

Especially the artifacts in dark scenes. They don't happen on the 4k discs.

  • Is the 820 much of an upgrade over the Xbox one x? I have the x and an LG c8. I know the Xbox doesn't do Dolby vision via the disk so wondering if I'd notice a difference

    • You'll get Dolby Vision, HDR 10+, Panasonic tone mapping, ability to add a fake HDR to SDR material and probably a few other things I'm forgetting. Apparently https://www.regionfreedom.com/ is an option for region free. Up to you if it's worth the $.

The code got me excited till I realised I read it wrong.

    • you took a hit

  • The remote controls on the cheaper models are not very good. Especially the positioning of the Netflix button that gets pressed by mistake.

  • I have been researching on the Panasonic units, especially the 9000. The only thing I didn't like, is the UI of the menu. It's really trippy! Have a search in Youtube for some videos.
