Qantas and Singapore Airlines have cheap flights from multiple major Australian cities to Beijin, China starting from just $472 return

Departures from all cities are for early 2020.
Perth also has availability for departures in August to November and are the only city where you can fly with Singapore Airlines at these prices.

    I used the 144 hour transit visa twice in PEK recently and it wasn't that difficult. Good way to save on visa costs if you want to see another destination outside the mainland. Just remember to fill out blue form at transit counter (only takes 10-15 minutes), and have a copy of you next onward flights itinerary.

    A copy of the IATA visa rules for China is also good to have to show when you check-in from Australia (They might expect a visa in your passport when you check-in)

      It has to be directly flying outside China, any connecting flights inside China will cause huge troubles
