75 inch TV suggestions

Good value 75inch TV

ULED or OLED ?? Which is better ?
I've been tossing up between these brands and am totally at a loss as to which I should choose !

1: Samsung 75 ru7100
2: LG OLED ?
3: Hisense p7 or p8
I need to stick to a budget of under $2500.
And should I wait for the half yearly sales whenever they start ??
What store is the best in regards to giving a good deal ?
I know, so many questions!
Thank you for any help…

I am contemplating the same question.
Is there even an OLED 75 inch? I thought they are only 65 inch max?

  • I just got the RU7100 - its pretty good for the price. I think I got it for $2199 or something. I asked at JB, Good Guys and Harvey Norman and they all would only give me about $60 off the price - But then I went into a JB that had the wrong ticket on the TV listing it at the old model price. So I got it for that price.

I suggest go look at them and see which you like better.

I went with the RU7100 just because the interface was more user friendly. They kept showing me the Hisense and it looked clunky just to get into the settings.

  • Wait until June sales.

    OLED for dark rooms
    normal LED for light rooms.

RU7100 is $2095 with PAPPY on the Good Guys eBay. But that is only 10%, they will have 20% off soon.

  • I looked at the Samsung ru7100 at JB and it looked really terrible compared to the Hisense at a cheaper price.
The Samsung is what I was leaning to,but now not so sure.
Maybe it was on the wrong picture setting, who knows ?
Anyway I'll keep looking, hopefully the mid year sales will kick off very soon

    • It depends what they are showing on it. When I went and looked at the RU7100 they were showing an AFL game, and the Hisense had your typical UHD pictures on Dynamic setting showing all the colours, so they really need to be showing the same thing.

The guy at the shop did suggest to me the Hisense, but I think it was an old model they just wanted to get rid of

    • Hisense P7/P8 are meant to be much better on paper than the RU7100
Both Hisense models will have wide colour gamut and local dimming, but I've heard they're not very bright (neither is the ru7100 to be fair) and that their software lags

FYI the Hisense P series and Samsung NU series are 2018; the RU series are 2019 models

    • Yes, ozbargainers have said and linked to reviews that the Samsung series 7 is pretty average, it rates lower than the Hisense series 7.
I don't know how the Samsung series 8 compares to the Hisense series 7 though.

In order of the best picture.
The LG OLED will have the best picture (those blacks 😍)
      Hisense series 8
      Hisense series 7
      Samsung series 7.

If you can afford it and you're not going to be gaming go for the LG OLED. OLEDs suffer from burn in :(.

      I bought the Hisense series 7, 65P7.
The Samsung series 7 was also on my list, but the Hisense series 7's picture is better.
I'm very happy with my purchase :).

Let us know which one you end up getting op :).

    • Lol.. I agreed with you. People here say it is the settings and\or content, all I know it is looked smick as and less glare and darker blacks.

haha, if you can afford to splurge on OLED then it isn't even a question, but it will be a 77" (there are bigger btw, but prices are insane).

I wouldn't touch anything less than an 8 series samsung, you need a 10-bit panel and something that can (properly) do HDR and has a wide color gamut. unless i'm mistaken, the ru7100 doesn't cut the mustard.

  • Good value 75inch TV
    OLED ??
    budget of under $2500.

    wut?

I didn't say I knew what I was talking about, hence I wouldn't be asking for help phunkydude.

    • Hi Stacey, I think his reaction was only because a budget of $2500 will not cover a 75" OLED TV as they are typically very expensive.

FYI OLED technology is still the top dog of Television screens, the idea behind them is that when there is black on the screen that area is literally turned off, so you get a true black. For this reasons the contrast of OLED is superior to other technologies but it is better that you watch in a darker room as OLED is not as bright as QLED or LED.

Your best bet is to look at QLED or other LED Televisions if you want such a large screen for that budget. OzBargain can correct me if I am wrong but no OLED will be within budget for you unless you are happy with 65".

  • have you considered Soniq?

I saw them live in JB a few months ago. I couldn't see an issue with picture quality, performance, ETC.

    they have two models -

    SONIQ N-Series 75" Ultra HD Google Chromecast TV 50hz N75UV17A-AU $1489

    SONIQ NX-Series 75" Ultra HD Google Chromecast TV N75UX17A-AU 100Hz $1589

The specs are pretty much the same.

there is also the Re-furb SONIQ NX-Series 75" Ultra HD Google Chromecast TV N75UX17A-AU 100Hz $1199

    • Soniq TVs are really only if you need a super cheap TV - the built in Chromecast (and other built in smart features) are pretty terrible to put it bluntly. But f you want a cheap TV that you can match with an Apple TV or external chromecast etc. they’re big and cheap.

I’d look at a Hisense or even the TCL 75C8.

Ultimately it depends how much you care about picture quality. As you’ve seen, prices vary considerably and whilst there are some differences in functionality, most of it will come down to picture quality and how easy and nice the software is to use.

  • Update. I ended up purchasing the Sony X7800F 75inch on sale at Domayne for$1995.
The same model and size was $3500 at Good Guys and $3990 at JB.
Also got free delivery and $100 off the product care which will replace with new if anything goes wrong in the next 5years.
So pretty happy with my deal and now just waiting on the delivery this morning.
I did check out every tv mentioned, but hopefully I've made the right choice in the end.
Thanks everyone for your advice. 🙂

  • At least I think they were the same model TVs ??
Anyway it's done now and I'm happy enough.
