Ooh.. Misleading much! You get 1 tea for $3, and then you can get another 2 teas over the next 2 days for $3 each. Still decent deal, but it reads like 3 teas for $1 each..

    • +1

Yeah I tried my best to clarify that in the description but lmk if I can improve it further :)

      • It's a great deal and you get the 3 teas for a $3 upfront payment, but I suggest putting the T&C link - https://3for3.chatime.com.au/termsandconditions - in the post and maybe list the steps people need to take in order to make sure they redeem it correctly, as mentioned by divineiniquity below.

Edit: Actually jennkei's comment is pretty clear and early on, so I think just link to T&Cs in OP and suggest people read the comments on how to correctly redeem if they're not sure.

"The Promotion entitles individuals to purchase 3 Chatime teas for $3 on the terms and conditions set out below." Sounds like $1, otherwise they would've written it "$3 each"?

      • -1

Read the T&Cs, it breaks it down to $3 for the first one, then each other tea is $3.

Not the OPs fault, Chatime just phrasing it poorly.

        • +2

No, it doesn't. It's $1 each. I don't know where you're getting your wording from.

          • +3

            @SomeBooy: +1
just bought one from MEL city. You get 3 teas for $3; ie $1 for each. The catch here is, you can only get one tea per day and the other two teas needs to bought in the following days. I have to collect my second tomorrow and third on Tuesday

  • Neh, "Promotion during the period 1 June – 27 Jul 2019 only, by visiting https://chatime.com.au/3for3. Individuals will be prompted to enter their personal details and payment details in order to purchase the Promotion. "

  • +2

    3 for $3 is misleading

  • +4

    I'm pretty sure it's $3 for 3 teas, i.e. $1 per tea.

Pay $3 with credit card online, get a voucher.

    T&Cs: https://3for3.chatime.com.au/termsandconditions

"Once the Promotion has successfully been purchased, an email containing a login page and login details will be sent to the individual’s nominated email address. Customers can then login at https://3for3.chatime.com.au/login using the login details provided in order to start redeeming their teas. .

To redeem in-store, customers must login at https://3for3.chatime.com.au/login and show their dashboard to a Chatime staff member. The staff member will select the store and the tea redeemed in the two dropdowns and press “Claim Now”. Once the first tea has been redeemed by the customer, a countdown will appear on the dashboard and the customer has two days to redeem their remaining 2 teas."

Doesn't say anything about having to pay for the next two teas, just that you need to claim it. Anyway, will need someone to try it out before we know for certain.

  • +10

So it's a $3 payment upfront but suggests you don't pay anymore for the next 2 teas.

Note that showing the dashboard to the staff is VERY IMPORTANT! You need to LET THEM choose their store and the tea you want in order to redeem the offer. I didn't read that part of the T&C and after I clicked it myself they refused to honour the deal. So no tea for me today =(

Also seems like you need to get all 3 teas on 3 consecutive days (that's what the dashboard says) but doesn't seem like there's any countermeasures to stop you from claiming like a week later (unless there's something hidden in the backend that isn't clearly shown to us).

In short, their site is pretty dodge and the T&Cs are hidden with important things (or I'm just stupid). Staff aren't helpful in guiding customers so it's typical Chatime behaviour.

    • The T&C states that your first redemption will start a countdown timer for the next 2 redemption.

Before I explain why I am negging this deal, let me note down what I think are the correct steps to redeeming this offer (for those who are still wondering how this works):

      1. Click on "Buy Now" on the linked deal page at the top
      2. Enter your e-mail address and your credit card details
      3. A payment of $3 will be made via your inputted credit card and you will be sent an e-mail with a link to the "Login" page and a password.
      4. Login on the "Login" page using your e-mail address and the password they sent to you
      5. You will now be taken to the "Dashboard" page (this is the same Dashboard page that gets mentioned in the T&Cs)
      6. The "Dashboard" page shows you how many teas you have left (when you first see it, it should say 3). You will also see a dropdown box to pick the Chatime store, and another dropdown box to select the tea you want. Then there is a "Redeem" button at the bottom. DO NOT TOUCH ANYTHING ON THIS PAGE - READ THE T&Cs!
      7. Show this "Dashboard" page to the staff, where THEY will enter their store and the tea you want and then confirm your choice by pressing the "Redeem" button themselves
      8. Enjoy your tea. 1 per day, but all 3 have to be claimed over 3 consecutive days it seems.

So I am negging this deal due to their deal page being hard to understand and the staff being misleading and unreasonable when dealing with me.

For as much as what that deal page says, it's definitely not clear how this deal works - you can tell from the earlier comments in this thread. So I went to one of their stores and showed them the deal page to ask them how it worked. The staff serving me had never seen the page before and had no clue how it worked. They called their manager over who (instead of speaking directly to me - you'll see why that's important later) spoke to the staff member in Mandarin. The staff then turned to me and told me to register (steps 1-4) for the deal and then show her a "barcode".

So I took a step back from the counter to get out of the way of other customers and went back to the deal page and did steps 1-4, just following the prompts on each page. Even when I get to step 5, the "Dashboard" page, I still couldn't see this "barcode" the staff told me to show them. But I did see those dropdown boxes and the big "Redeem" button. So I thought it would be like the McDonald's app where I pick the store I was at, pick the tea I want and click "Redeem" - surely that would somehow process a transaction and send the order to their store and I would get this "barcode" to pick up my order, right?

I clicked "Redeem" and the first tea on my dashboard was crossed off (so I had 2 left showing). But there was no order number, no e-mail showing an order number, and definitely no "barcode" of any sort. I take a step forward to the counter and show my updated "Dashboard" page to the staff and show them that the first tea was crossed off and asked them for me tea. Again the staff gives me this blank expression that they have no clue what is going on, and calls the store manager over again. They converse in Mandarin for a bit, and THIS time the store manager turns to me and explains that THEY have to select THEIR store and the tea I want and THEY have to click the "Redeem".

Okay sure, misunderstanding, yeah haha the instructions weren't so clear, but that's alright they can just give me the tea right? NOPE, APPARENTLY NOT! Even though I stood directly in front of their store where every staff there could see me, and they spoke to me and knew that I wasn't sure how the deal worked; they refused to give me my tea (and I wouldn't be able to get the 2nd tea until tomorrow). It's not like I was trying to trick them to get a free tea, the only difference was that I clicked on their store and chose a tea and clicked "Redeem" myself, not them. And due to that minor point of technicality they refused to give me my tea.

The staff and manager mislead me by directing me to find this "barcode" that never popped up. Even if it were a language barrier issue, at least say something more correct like "the page after you login" instead of something completely wrong. And second they were unreasonable in refusing to give me my tea, even though I stood right in front of them at the store doing all of the above.

So with all that said (thank you for reading up to this point), I'm definitely not getting my 3 teas for $3 (we'll see if they come up with some excuse to not give me my tea tomorrow). But for the shady practices of this business and general ambiguity in the deals they do (and how their staff communicate), you're better of visiting other tea places for less hassle.

Fair enough man I've had the same kind of experience with Chatime but I thought that there would be someone who would find this deal beneficial which is why I posted

I do agree that the wording is really misleading which is why I included as much of what I thought the deal was about in the description so I'm really sorry that you had your time wasted like that

Thanks for letting us in on your experience with this pretty shitty company

        • +4

No the deal is pretty good if you can indeed get 3 teas for $3. The condition of having them over 3 consecutive days is a bit strange, but you could do that during the weekdays on your lunch break or after work. Even if you only end up getting just one of those teas, that's still $3 for the tea compared to their RRP of $5+.

What I am negging is what the deal is meant to entail. If you're advertising 3 teas for $3 then I expect to get 3 teas for my $3, not any more or less. That's what the transaction is. But if the instructions to complete the transaction are unclear/ambiguous/misleading then that really ruins the customer experience.

There are a lack of important notices or features on the user experience interface. Eg: if you type in the wrong e-mail when you register, then bye-bye $3 and you won't actually be able to see the e-mail they send you with the login details - and they only have 1 dialogue box on the registration form, so there isn't a "confirm e-mail address" box for you to make sure you've put in the right details.

The minimum change they need to make to the dashboard page is add a sentence at the top that says "Please show this to a Chatime staff member" - it's really not that hard. Instead the page has a nice pretty "Redeem" button (which apparently isn't for the user but for the staff - who would've thought?!).

So I think you did a great thing for the OzBargain community in sharing this; but if it were me I wouldn't recommend Chatime and any of their deals, just not worth the trouble in my opinion. Remember the neg is towards the deal, not you as the poster so don't take it personally.

          • @divineiniquity: The idea is to get you thinking about their hot teas three days in a row which will make you more likely to think about getting one on other days after the promo. I think its a very clever marketing strategy

  • isn't this business the one that owes alot of money to their staff?

  • -1

This deal is really misleading in the title and difficult to understand.

    • -4

Neg the deal, not the post.

      So I negged your comment.

      • ? I did neg the deal not a comment?

My feedback is relevant to this deal especially since I go CT regularly.

    • This is literally how they're advertising it, I have no power over whether or not it's misleading…

  • +3

    Too confusing :(
Also it sounds like it's a prepaid thing, but not flexible.

    Hi All,

We are very sorry if you've had a negative experience redeeming your 3 for $3 teas.

We can confirm that you do get 3 teas for $3 (=$1 per tea). These need to be redeemed on three consecutive days from when you redeem your first tea. You can only purchase this offer at https://chatime.com.au/3for3, however these then need to be redeemed in-store by showing your login page to Chatime staff.

If you have had a bad experience, or haven't been able to redeem your hot fruity tea properly, please email us on [email protected] and a customer service representative will get back to you shortly.

We appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback and concerns as we work through correcting these.

    • I enjoyed the pomegranate and currently enjoying the strawberry. I couldn't finish the pomegranate though, it was too sweet. I got this with 30% sugar, which is fine for me, but still very sweet. I will probably try my other one without sugar though.

    • Hi Rep, just ordered one from my local store. Staff struggled a bit with the cashier machine though. Probably give them some more information regarding this offer will be a good idea

  • Just tried mango black tea. Pretty sweet, not sure if they added sugar or not but was pretty happy with the taste and the temperature especially on a winters day.

    • Is it like their usual teas but hot? I've never tried chatime teas hot.

      • Kind of. Except no pearls for obvious reasons..it’s just a flavoured tea.

        • Ah ok. I mean not much of a loss to try it for 3 bucks.

        • I've been getting pearls even though it seemed weird, I like it.

    • Thanks for that.. 😊

I tried this one today… It wasn't bad.. I kinda liked the taste.. I chose half sugar and it was still sweet enough for me..

That being said, I'd still choose cold over hot..

      • I chose no sugar and it was too sweet for me

  • I was wondering if it is just a spam page though but thanks to reps clarification.
Might use a disposable card instead.

  • Tried strawberry black tea and it was too sweet and not good as the cold one. Would buy coffee at 711 for $1 rather than the hot tea.
