Just Got a Samsung ua65ru7100wxxy Should It Have This Much Light Bleed?

Hey all,
Just picked up a Samsung tv on Friday and today is the first day watching it.

I’m watching Game Of Thrones and I’ve noticed a lot of light bleed on the left hand side of the screen and I’m not sure if it’s normal for this tv or not?

Here is a photo of the screen https://i.imgur.com/2nCjl6R.jpg

Thanks for any help
David

I wouldn't say that is much bleed for a low cost TV.

On a side note, I spent ages waiting for that image to load before I realised that the loading symbol was the image.

      Haha me too

    • I wouldn't say that is much bleed for a low cost TV.

It doesn't mean that you have to suck it up if it is not to your liking.

It is a $1K+ TV and not a Kogan special … and even it is was I would still take it back.

      Cheers

  • That is not light bleed, it looks like refresh/fps issues.

  • Hi David,

I would raise this issue with your place of purchase as they will have a 7 day replacement policy considering that you have had this for 2 days.

If it didn't bother you, then you wouldn't raise it here.

IMO it is an issue and you should get a replacement. It is only in one area and not uniform.

    Cheers

    • I’m going to call the good guys today as I got it from them on Friday
It’s definitely an issue as it was messing with the colours on the left side of the screen.

I took that image as it’s way easier to see when it’s a black screen.

Here is another one I took

As you can clearly see the issue on the left.

        Yep. Looks crap.
        Get a replacement.
Go straight away whilst you are under the 7 days of ownership.
        Take no for an answer.
        I would.

        Good luck.

        Cheers

        • Hey,
So I called them and they wanted to see the photo.
          So
I’ve emailed them and they said they will get back to me.

I’ll give them till 12 and if nothing I’ll just take the tv down to them and request a refund.

So we will see how it goes.

          Thanks David

          • @dazie86: Looks crap. Take it back.

Out of curiosity does putting pressure on the back of the TV in the bottom left or top left make part of the bleed go away?

            • @Typical16-bitEnjoyer: Even if it does take it away it may be temporary, so best OP takes it back right away whilst he still can.

      • First photo wasn't great, the new photo is quite shocking for a VA panel screen, so I'd definitely take it back.

        Simple test site (PC/tablet/phone):

        • Yeah, this second photo shows a much different picture to the first. That's pretty sucky for a Samsung panel.

  • So the good guys are trying to sell me this tv

    Is it any good?

    • Sony make some nice panels. Generally speaking, the Sony motion engines are right up there if you like face paced movies.

Take that light bleed test image into the store and run it on their demo model.
