  • Bought this earlier :D

  • Any thoughts on this against comparable Kenwood products etc?

    • Breville and Kenwood are pretty good. Avoid Sunbeam at all costs though. I have nothing but quality issues with their appliances.

      • Yeah nice one. I note the Kenwood Classic Pro is the same price so wasn't sure which one was better. Been looking out for a processor for a while now.

Me and the wife cook a lot so I wondering whether to hold out and go for a Magimix due to their reputation. Maybe overkill though.

Don't have a tonne of benchtop space either!

        • All the reviews that I've read on this model have been positive. It does look massive! Haven't really looked at the Kenwood models.

          • @ozchobie: I think almost all food processors are huge. All good, time to rearrange the cupboards!

      • I've had a bad experience with Breville's customer service myself. Won't be buying Breville again.

  • aldi often sells something similar for about $80 to $100
depends if you find it on special discount

I have the Pro version which I picked up "as new" for $150 or so, it was a bargain anyway. It's not perfect but high quality and among the best out there. You have to be careful how you clean, as there are places food can get trapped in the handle, blades of course be very careful with. But mine is plenty powerful and has great attachments. You might want to check the differences between those two versions the Pro and the Plus and compare the specs and options.

On my model also there was an issue with one of the blades and the top cover that was corrected, Breville replaced these parts no questions asked, well outside warranty. This obviously will be corrected on newer models.

    • How'd you find the model up for $150?

      • A housewife brought it and didn't use it, it was in "as new" condition, she just didn't advertise the fact. I think I paid actually $130 or something but can't remember. You can tell how much use they have by looking carefully for fine marks on bowl and blades. I think she used one attachment one time, and the others didn't even have water marks from being washed.

It makes a great fresh Hummus I can make a huge bowl for $2.

      • I saw you mention benchtop space. I keep the food processor stashed below the bench and pull it out, but the attachments I find it a bit easier storing in a different cupboard where I can easily pick them out.

I also have a Breville BKE495 Kettle, Breville 800ES Espresso machine which I recommend that live on the bench. The Breville toaster is not so great, I think its just the model though build quality is ok. I used flybuys at Kmart when they were on special with about $30 cash. All up including the food processor I spent well under $200 cash which is not bad for $1200 of appliances.

        • Thanks for the comprehensive replies! I took the plunge and went for the Pro model, not that much of a step up in price and size and looks like it's quite a bit more capable. Wife has wanted one for ages, I am more one for a Benchtop Mixer but I think that's on hold now! She loves making hummus but it sucks doing it in our little Nutribullet.

I have a cheap old Big W kettle which is the only thing living on our bench. It really is quite small, studio apartment. I have had some ideas on rearranging the shelves in here anyway - after a few years you get stuck in your ways and don't think of optimal storage.

We are pretty self sufficient in the kitchen with tools - no microwave or toaster or anything!

          • @OpenHand: Have a Breville beater (flybuys), Kenwood mixer (free), Sunbeam crock pot (free), Russell Hobbs glass blender (ozbargained). Toaster is upright wide model so I do buns in it etc, my grill is top only. I have a vintage Mitsubishi microwave (best purchase ever), it's only used for defrosting and reheating food mostly. For cooking I use Lodge Pro Logic cast iron (splurged), Scanpan stainless (discounted), or Pyrex glassware (discounted).

I didn't get them all at once but if you cook a bit I think it's the minimum useful tools. I have a dutch oven so the free slow cooker wasn't entirely necessary.

  • Sweet, thanks. Grabbed one

  • Does it work as a mince chopper?

    • Quad blade minces not tried it though. If you look in the manual there is a food processing guide that gives you ideas on what you can do with it.

  • If your wife wants a FP and you are um'ing and ah'ing. Go for it - this is a bargain.

I had one of these. After 3 months that plastic bowl started cracking near the central spinning shaft and the chopping blade bent chopping an onion.

Apparently the cracking bowl is a common design flaw which Breville class as customer error and don't fix under warranty.

In the end I returned to Myer to save myself the hassle of dealing with Breville.

    Buyer beware
