Nintendo Switch - New or Used

Hi Everyone,

With the up coming Pokemon games (and other new titles) being on the switch, decided I'd make the switch (pun intended) from the 3DS XL.

The current AMEX deal with HN makes the switch $348 brand new which is pretty good. After looking on eBay & Gumtree for the prices of used consoles, they seem to be around $300+ sometimes even higher.

My question would be, if you were looking at a used switch how much would you expect to pay? Or just forget buying used & get it new?

Thank you in advance!

I bought mine used. Was a launch model, paid $300 for it just last December. Some used models may be worth more to some people as they can be more easily modified.

  • I got mine with an Amex deal and got HN to prove match Amazon when it was 299.

It's a great console and I get a lot of use out of it.

Yeah stupid sellers offering 300+ just wait. Second hand worth 250 max

    • You’ll be waiting until Nintendo’s next release.

  • We have been looking for a second hand Switch for a couple of weeks. It is quite perplexing that people have them advertised at a price that is very close to the current new price. We have decided to wait until we can get a new one on special.

Old consoles have an exploit which, after some steps, allows you to get all games for free.

New consoles have not had this exploit identified.

No need to be perplexed, I think the above explains the price more than sufficiently.

      • I'm new to the whole exploit but doesn't it mean that you won't be able to access your switch online?

You won't get banned if you take the right precautions, but you'll need to buy any game you want to play online

      • Thankyou for that explanation. Had no idea that was the case.

  • I got mine for $329 with cashback. if you wanna get one cheaper, try looking out for sales and or use a cashback service to get more off.

Personally would never get anything with a battery second hand. They can only go through so many charge cycles and it's hard to determine how much a switch has been used already, so would recommend buying new

  • I've only started looking and I've missed a bunch of deal. Should I just buy the amazon 379 or wait for something else to appear..
