Tempting,,, tempting to buy. Great deal.

    • +6

just buy it. its a great phone and good price :)

      • This must be the best sub 300 phone.

        • +1

          But isn't this $415?

          • @dust: With free tws

      • Ordered. :)

        • You will love the phone. Plus freebuds is worth $179.
          What colour did you pick?
          I bought the blue

  • has it got the 50X zoom?

    • no

      • +9

        I'mNotHavingAVeryNiceDay then.

        • +1

I mean, you can't really expect it at this price point, you'd need a flagship camera to get the 50x zoom and a very small amount of phones do

          • +1

@HaveANiceDay: No phones have 50x. Best you can currently get is 5x optical / 10x hybrid zoom. Digital zoom doesn't count as it's just cropping the image and looks like crap.

            • @Ryballs: Hes referring to the premium version which is Huawei P30 Pro with 50x zoom camera.

              • +4

@arctan: Whoever wrote the article about privacy concerns.. I guess they never heard of binoculars or telescopes. Where's the concerns over those?

I already bought a flagship this year (S10+) but I might have to secure myself a P30 Pro before they disappear once and for all. Not sure if waiting will make them cheaper or more expensive. Buying two flagships in the same year is crazy though. Can't believe I'm doing this.

                • @lostn: Experts point out that while professional camera lenses and telescopes can already perform the same job, it's the portable and pocketable nature of the new devices that could be concerning.

                  • +1

@[Deactivated]: So they're not concerned about people using these devices from their own home or hotel room?

                    • @lostn: Its discretion means it's harder to detect. I can't spy from a public area like mall, office, for example with telephoto. Hotel room or apartment is private area.

                      • @[Deactivated]: ok, but if you see someone sitting on a park bench with binoculars out, what normally happens? Would an officer write them up? Or how about with a tripod and professional camera out?

Some places even have binculars you insert a coin into to "spy" on people down below.

              • @arctan: From your linked article:

Technology experts have so far been divided on the P30 Pro's unmatched photography capabilities — including 5x optical zoom in addition to the digital zoom

It's a 5x optical zoom camera. You can push it up to 10x using the AI-powered hybrid zoom if you don't mind a small hit to picture quality.

50x digital zoom is just taking the 10x hybrid zoom image and cropping it to 1/5 size. Any smartphone can do 50x digital zoom.

            • @Ryballs: I am aware that it's digital zoom, and I might be wrong here, but then wouldn't it be slightly better considering processing or no? And by slight I mean like super slight if that makes sense.

  • This is a low end phone,nothing related to p30 and p30pro

    • How about compare to nova 3i

      • +1

P30 Lite is known as Nova4E in some country, identical specs but some country has the 6GB ram version, so I would say this is a ripped off

      • Overall similar. But much better camera.

    • I was wondering why they'd be able to offer this price. That explains …

  • -3

    And no updates going forward

  • +1

    This or Pixel 3e?

    • -4

      P30 Specs:
      Dual SIM 4G
      6.15" FHD screen
      24MP+8MP+2MP main camera
      32MP front camera
      4GB of RAM
      128GB of on-board storage

      Pixel 3 specs:
      Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ 845
      Dual SIM 4G
      5.5” or 6.3" display
      12.2 MP dual-pixel camera
      8 MP front camera
      4GB of RAM
      64 GB or 128 GB on-board storage

Seems like Huawei forgot to add a CPU to this phone, I'd go with the pixel if I were you…

      • +10

I think the correct comparison would be the 3a. The Pixel 3 is a flagship phone.

        • thats what the guy asked about anyway, but he accidentally typed 3e

Huawei has been blocked from any facebook apps (facebook, whatsapp etc) for future phones.

Not sure if this applies to updates but if you can't update whatsapp to latest app, you are unable to use it

    • +16

No, updates to Facebook apps will be fine. They will however not be pre-installed due to the US embargo against Huawei.

Win win if you're asking me.

Of course you may need to sideload Google Play in the future though…

      • +10

I would love to have a phone missing those apps. You can't even uninstall them unless you root.

        • They're not on the Moto G7+.

          • -1

            @Wardaddy: But it's still a Moto G7+….

            • @lostn: And therefore brilliant. And not banned!

    • +5

Just so people know there are modified versions of WhatsApp and other software that can be installed very easily via APK which have enhanced functionality compared to the standard apps on the app store.

If your not using these in on android you are missing out

      • +4

Aren't you worried about your data going elsewhere if you use a third party / modified app?

    • [absolute win hulk meme]

    • +2

Huawei should post this as a selling feature!

Personally I would still not buy a Huawei at this stage, if Google will indeed still provide updates to Huawei, then there will be no reason for the massive price drop. Unless you are willing to gamble for future unban, but still, you are buying a phone that sends data to China for no reason.

    • +5

Do not use google as it will send data to US gov for no reason.
Do not drive Holden as it will send your route to AU gov for no reason.
Do not use any electronic or mechanical stuff as they will send something to some place for no reason.

      • you forgot do not think - wonder why?

      • No, Google will not collect data for no reason, they do it for advertising, whereas why China is collecting your data is another matter.

I don't drive Holden, and I don't use 'stuff' that does send random data to others.

        • Did Google boss tell you they do not collect data for no reason? Did Chinese gov tell you they collect your data? You even cannot figure out what I am talking about. Every statement you made must come with evidence, otherwise it is just bull shit.

          • @sy8718: watch the news dude

            • @luminair: Does the news list any evidence or just because the news is political? US news always says Russian attacked MH17 and Russian news says US attack the MH17. Why do you believe that US news are telling the truth? Or just because you hope that is the truth? Come on, news is not evidence. If you simply choose to believe whatever the news telling you without any evidence, I have to say, you are too naive.

  • Do you provide invoice with ABN for tax purpose?

I see that Huawei has stopped phone production, and the big accounting firms have banned the use of these phones. I wouldn't pay more than $50 for one. Cue Huawei fan Bois pile on.

    • +1

      Cool story bro

  • Worthwhile upgrade over my current oneplus 5t?

Phone is still great but lacking in the camera department…

  • I'm looking for some discounts on the p30 pro

Bought this Wednesday night and arrived this morning!

    • Did you receive free buds with the phone or you have to get them separately from Huawei?
On Huawei website, SydneyMobile is not listed as a seller to get free buds.

      • Sorry for late reply - but yeah, I got them with the phone. They were shrink wrapped together.
