Cheaper to buy a new bike too!

  • The Classic Service Normally $120 should be done once every 4-6 months.

The Ultimate Service Normally $385 should be done every 18 months.

So over 18 months, you recommend getting 2 Classic, 1 Deluxe and an Ultimate -> $845

    • Hi JV

      Thanks for pointing this out.

Typically if you get your bike serviced every 4-6 months, we would recommend that you choose the Classic Service. However, if it is between 9-12 months since you last service, perhaps the Deluxe Service would be more appropriate. The Ultimate Service is for those that want their bikes stripped back and rebuilt.

These are suggestions only and most cyclists will choose the level of service appropriate for their individual needs.

They never told me that at Kmart !!!!!!

All the bike riders in china and vietnam must be laughing their head off that people pay that much or even contemplate of servicing their bike for a fee. First world problem esp when so much info is available for free on the net.

    • GCN and Park Tool on youtube pretty much tells you how to do all of it. Only real cost is buying the tools and time to learn but still cheaper in the long run.

If all the bike riders in China are riding competitively and doing 40km time trials, multi-day 500km road races, or triathalons with 180km ride legs, then they can laugh. While there is info on how to, say, true your wheels and use spoke keys etc, not everyone is mechanically able or has the right equipment to do this at home, so they get a shop to do it.

But if you're comparing some dude tootling along to the shop with a serious sports cyclist racing for money, who's being laughed at?

      • im glad you can keep up with that effort, i truely do. Most who does so i assume are so into their bike that they would be servicing and cleaning the bike themselves though.
For the rest of us mortal ,casual bike riders that fits into the "average overweight australians statistics" i don't think we do ride more than the average poor chinese mob. I wish we do but dont see it.
        Keep riding and stay fit:)

I do all my basic servicing myself, but I am more than happy to pay for a gold standard service every 15,000km to have a professional to complete tasks that are beyond me such as truing wheels or servicing hubs and to just have a professional eye give a good look over my whole bike. Usually they spot something that requires attention that I would have never picked up.

I dont spend money on public transport and don't blow $100 a weekend at pubs like I used to before taking up the hobby so I feel I can easily justify the large expenditure that the hobby brings.
