        The spec bump is correct, but the assistant feature is available on Gen 1 too. Sonos said that there are no new abilities of the Gen 2 just yet, but in future some features may come to Gen 2 but not Gen 1.

          @Hargain Bunter: I would be cautious about hanging too much hopes on new features. I was optimistic about the Play:5 getting voice assistant features (the early models of the Gen 2 had a built in microphone) but that never amounted to anything. I suspect they'll just release a whole new model and make people upgrade.

          I'm still waiting for Google Assistant on my One.

          Edit: Sorry, was just meant to reply generally, non-intentional atmention.

            Also you can change your location in Sonos account setting to USA to enable Google Assistant on your One. Details here. I just did it then, super quick and easy.

  I appreciate it's nice to buy directly from Sonos, but it's not the best price for the Beam.
  I managed to get the Beam from KlappAV for $480 with the 20%. Not sure if still possible.

    Yeah it's still active at Klapp here and you should be able to price match at JB or potentially HN.

      There is a $20 standard shipping which brings total to $498. Unless you can successfully price match it with brick and mortar store the offer from sonos still sounds tempting, plus it offers 100 days return policy.
