    Word of caution, don't get this if you are planning to use it in an espresso machine, I bought one and I couldn't pull a proper espresso shot, supposedly these beans are very oily and doesn't matter what you do they dont work. I've tried all grinding sizes and just didnt work.

      Worked well in a simple breville coffee maker. Came through with decent creame crema too. I did get a reasonable fresh bag though.

      Can't say that I agree. We quite often use the 'Organic' blend (through a BES920 and a Rancilio Silvia) without any issues.

      I do find that I need to adopt a finer grinder setting than for local fresh roasted - but that's been my experience for most supermarket-sourced bags.

      If you can't grind finely enough then yes, you'll struggle to get a decent shot.

      Surprised that you've had this problem given that you've played around with the relevant settings?

      We destroyed two grinders using shitty store bought beans like these and the ones from Aldi. Switched to fresh roasted beans from proper roasters. Roasted packed and sent in a few days. Much better coffee, crema and haven't had any issues with the grinder.

    I just buy the 1KG bag from Aldi in a pinch. That being said… find yourself a decent local roaster. I found one but the beans he sold me were too fresh (I used them on purpose as a learning tool). In another couple of days they should be awesome once they've fully degassed.

      What price are you paying per kg? I know the prices of online roasters (BeanBay etc) but I've never approached a local roaster. Thanks

        At the moment $50/KG. BRILLIANT reviews and customer service. Beans roasted on-site etc. I just wanted to try the best to start with then see about switching blends/suppliers. Keep in mind if you know what you are doing you can smoke any local cafe for about 1/3rd the cost of a cup anyway. Get the bean and milk cost down even further and you're laughing.

        We buy from my cuppa. Usually buy beans for our house, plus family to split down the courier charge. $25 a kg + $8 shipping from My Cuppa. Just as good as the $40 kg beans we were buying from some hipster roasters in the inner city.

    Organic ones are better than the moutain grown ones, which are slightly bitter.

    Beans are only fresh for around 3 weeks. If you are buying them from the supermarket, you are buying them stale.

      they pack them in nitrogen to stop oxidisation, just like they do with some brands of corn chips so the oils doesn’t go rancid, packing beans in sealed bags with nitrogen is something your local roaster can’t do.

    How does this compare to the single origin Aldi beans? I like their dark roast ones but just got the single origin Brazil. Haven't tried yet but too amateur to tell any of these apart.
