Plex Pass Lifetime $99 USD (~$132 AUD) @ Plex (Inactive or New Accounts Only)

730
PLEXDAD

Spotted this code on Facebook, pretty good non-targeted deal for lifetime!

For some reason, the price in AUD is actually better than the USD price, well below the current exchange rate, so make sure you switch it over by selecting "Australia"

Enjoy!

      • Mainly good for long flights! Syncing converts it to a format which is better for your device, and can drop it down in quality to fit more onto your phone too. Don't need full bitrate blurays on my phone really.

I also think there's a way to use your Android phone as a server with sync'd content, which could be useful in a hotel or long car/plane ride. I'm not 100% sure how to do this yet, I'm still trying to figure it out.

        • Any modern phone can play modern files without converting.

If storage is an issue you can just plug in a usb with a usb-c adapter.

Much better then relying on the less then reliable plex sync.

    • Also, the ability to terminate streams on your server if you have a few people using it. This should be a standard feature though…

  • What do people run this one? Do you all leave a PC on all day for this or a VPS somewhere?

    • Isn't your PC on 24/7?

    • Home PC that isn't on 24/7 and a kimsufi dedi in Canada. Still setting up the dedi but.

I run it on my PC, which is on all day, however I have also run it on my Nvidia Shield, which supports Plex server:

    • I've just got an old PC from 2009 I had lying around that I leave on all day, with a bunch of external 8TBs attached. Works alright!

      • Nvidia shield works good for me.

        • How do you stop it from powering off /sleeping? I set the sleep options to never but it still does it and the server shuts down and I can't awaken it remotely.

If you are looking at plex also have a look at emby it is much better than plex and the devs are very responsive if you have issues.

    • +1

Or Jellyfin (the open source continuation of the original open source Emby), since the developers of Emby sold out and locked down the code.

    • Looks alright, how do I get it onto my LG smart TV? atm using the Plex app on there to access my library

  • Damn, had to duck out, got back and it had expired - time to wait for the next deal…

  • Last time I tried to use Plex Server on my QNAP I was unable to disable transcoding. And it was real pain in the back.

    • +1

Yeah you need to setup a python script on a cron job to kill transcoding, it's a stupid limitation

    • +1

Disabling transcoding is only useful if you have users that you are too uncomfortable with to help fix the transcoding issue. In which case, why are they part of your plex?

Otherwise, just ensure your players won't transcode and its not an issue…

Bit frustrated this is only for new or inactive accounts, I've been waiting for a sale on Plex lifetime pass for a while now.
