I had been searching for a good deal on the new Seiko Astron 5x watches for a while. Seiko Boutique would not budge off the RRP of $4500 for this watch. I found a Spanish etailer who were offering the watch at $3700 then I happened to stumble across the H&S Jewelle's EOY sale who are a bricks and mortar store in Surfers Paradise. Michael and team were quick to assist and shipped the watch express post. Not sure if the sale is until stocks last so do check. There are others from the range also on sale.

    I can find Astron 5x series for less than 200,000 JPY on amazon JP, that's about AUD 2600. I don't think Amazon JP ships to Australia anymore. But the price difference would be probably enough for a return flight to japan on Jetstar + a few nights of accommodations. I bought my astron from a seiko outlet store during a trip to japan for around 1000 dollar a fwe years ago, I am pretty sure they come with international warranty.

    The functionality of a wrist watch is meaningless for me - and let's be honest here, for everyone else - so all the value is in its visual appeal. In that way it's not unlike a pretty girl. Wait for it…

      Ok. Wrist watch is meaningless to you. Ok. Not going to argue with that. But you get to decide that for everyone else too? Whoa.

      Clearly you know every possible scenario where one might need a watch but really they don't. Like you are not to have your phone on you if thats what you are using to tell the time because it has a camera.

      But what would i know?

      I went swimming in the ocean and i found it awkward to have my phone on me and yet i still like to know the time.
