Couple of decent looking offers. The Safe n Sound looks to be the best offer at just over 30% off. We bought ours online as part of the sale and in store pricing is live now

The Safe n Sound we bought as it suits from 6 months through to 8 years old. For $159 it's a great price.

    • For a car seat on a budget we are more than happy with our choice. We did a lot of research and found the brand to be highly recommended by friends and staff in stores. Simply buying on one websites rating seems like you'd be limiting your decision.

      • Safety ratings come from independent government testing.

Used to be called CREP testing.

Ratings are variable even within the same brand and different models.

The point of a child car seat is to be safe. If it fails it does poorly in this, your happiness will be challenged because you wanted to save a few bucks or went off word of mouth opinions in the event of an accident

        • What a load of bull. Every seat on the market is tested within the guidelines of government regulation, therefore every seat on sale in Australia is "Safe". As an example, Maxi Cosi Luna sells for $400 at Baby Bunting is rated at 1.9/5.

To say I put a child's safety at risk to save money is such an offensive thing to say and either you don't have children or you simply speak before thinking.

We know this seat is safe. Is it wasn't it would not have passed the initial round of testing and would not be on sale. Sometimes it's better to keep your opinion to yourself if it's being made to simply be heard.

          • @MummaMia85: I have kids.
I thoroughly researched before I bought. I have bought 3 seats already and am literally about to buy the 4th.

            I am big into safety.

I am not an expert but truly on expert authorities that conduct crash tests objectively such as the CREP tests for child car seats, crash.org.au and SHARP UK for motorcycle helmets, and ANCAP for car crashes.

I want to prevent the spread of uneducated misinformation.

Bargains can be had on top or high quality seats, helmets, cars, etc.
Price does not equate to safety.
Brand does not equate to safety.
            Testing and research proves safety.

Australian standards are the bare minimum.
If parents can get a 4/5 star seat for $200, vs a 2 star seat for $150, over the life of the seat (say 4 years), isn't it worth paying that little bit more?

Don't take it as a personal attack.
I'm just providing facts and raising awareness that you don't need to spend lots to get a safe seat.
Other parents may choose to take this on board or ignore it, everyone is entitled to their own opinion and choice

You can't claim to know the seat you purchased is safe unless you've seen it save your child in an accident.
Why not leave the safety ratings to the professionals such as RACV, TAC, NRMA, etc?

            • @edrift: Agreed, leave the safety ratings to the experts and the decision process to the public. This may include yourself. I've simply shared a deal I saw, thinking someone else may see value and it is yourself that has given your "expert opinion"

          • @MummaMia85: Watch the videos here to see how they test the seats:

I called my local store before I bought and they had stock, we just wanted it early so we bought online. The store told me there was plenty of stock around stores, you'd just have to call and see where it is.

    • Blessing in disguise given the safety and ease of use ratings are quite poor.
      You dodged a bullet

  • Catch of the day has some great infasecure options for around $169
