I bought four of these in SCA's sale a couple of months back. They were roughly the same price as this deal. I gave one to the Manager because she was always so nice and helpful, and because I felt bad for her because they were closing the store down. Apparently the store didn't reach its two mill target. I'm not an economist, but the area I live in is thriving and they should've given it another chance. All the employees were brilliant. It seems SCA is really struggling, what with the new competition out there.

Wasn't too happy with the microfibre cloths I bought recently from Repco, though. I should have bought the SCA ones when they were half price, they felt much thicker and sturdier, but the staff at Repco said they'd offer me a refund or exchange.

The Aldi microfibre cloths on sale at the moment are much better!

I wonder how many of these oil deals on volume product that suits a large % of cars out there they need to put on just to get customers in the door.

Anyway… the catalogue has a bit more, went through a few items

They have bendix premium brake pads for $100 for 2 pairs so you can do the front and rear pads for $100 (save $60 or so)… personally i'd go get remsa pads from sparesbox but some people might prefer bendix as remsas are great but dusty

    25 pack 40x70cm microfibre $30.99

Nulon 5w30 Full Synth $31.99… this is much better oil than magnatec for modern cars that can take 5w30. API SN, GL-5, Dexos/GM approved.

    • I agree the Nulon is much better than magnatec.

    • I meant GF-5 , not GL-5 on the nulon, oops

      • The Nulon is what I was actually looking for but found the magnatec first.

    • I don't know much about cars and oils but my dad has always said semi synth is better, of course he is old school because, well, he's old, but I'm curious now. Why is full synthetic better?

Full synth oil comes in a few types, this one is a group III as far as i can tell which isn't quite as good as a group IV or V synthetic oil. But mainly the difference is that the synthetic oils don't have to rely on adding Viscosity Improvers as much to get their viscosity over different temperatures right. A multigrade oil must be thin on startup when it's cold but also resist becoming too thin when the engine is warm. So viscosity improvers do this, but they break down over time in the engine plus it's much easier for mineral oil to "shear" causing sludge and other things like that.
modern mineral oils are pretty good but generally synthetic oils is the reason we now have long life oil that can go 15000 / 20000 km in some cars.

Thats a gross oversimplification of it all , but basically the magnatec is semi synth , the nulon is full synthetic, has an additive package including Molybdenum DTC that prevents wear, with extra ratings like Dexos / GM, GL-5, it's 5w30 as well instead of 10w40 which makes it more suitable for modern cars requiring a thinner oil, especially in winter at the moment.

    • The cigweld for $116.99 looks interesting i want a starter unit and the reviews look good.

    • Thanks for taking the time to write this up, I bought the Nulon oil instead, it's a much better product, easily worth the extra $8.
