Previous "Free 90 Day eBay Plus Trial" Deal Anomaly

This is in reference to the previous Free 90 Day eBay Plus Trial deal.

Ok going to try dot point this as a TL;DR, wanting to see if others are in the same boat…

  • So like many I was able to take up this deal even though I had previously used the trial before. Happy days!

  • It was free for a period of time, until eBay noticed and sent a message/email on 01/05/2019 to advise they'll be removing my Plus privilege as it was an error as I can't have a second free trial. Fair enough. This is what they advised…

As a courtesy we have provided you with a second free trial until yesterday, 30th April 2019, however, in the next 7 days, you will no longer be entitled to receive a free trial of eBay Plus and your ability to access the benefits of the program will cease.

  • Even though this notification was received, they never removed the Plus privilege as I was still able to continue to use Plus.

  • Come 06/06/2019 they issued an invoice for $77.99 for charges and fees pertaining to Plus subscription

  • I raise a query through their live chat and they acknowledge it was in error and refund will be provided

  • Refund for $77.99 given on 07/06/2019, so I'm thinking it's a done deal I no longer have Plus privilege and checking the landing page of Plus (https://pages2.ebay.com.au/plus/) it doesn't indicate I have it anymore

  • As at today, I tested out of interest the Plus Weekend code PLUS99 and it still applies on my account

Didn't actually proceed with it as I ain't game enough, in case it triggers another invoice.

Is this the case for anyone else? Thoughts?

      Not worried you’ll get hit with an invoice for Plus?

      My concern is that using Plus will auto trigger an invoice to follow like it seems to have happened with the last lot 🤔

      Then, may have trouble trying to get them to refund another time.

        Why i didn't agree to them chargeing me for ebay plus which i cancelled the same day i signed up for that ebay plus trial.

        Tip: remove all payment methods from ebay, ive never updated them and pay my ebay frees with a one time Paypal payment.

      Thanks for the link to your thread, I also got the refund no problems…

      My thread is actually not so much about that, it’s more so that I’m still getting Plus privileges even though everything points towards not in fact having it (Plus landing page tells me to sign up, as well as not showing an end date for my Plus subscription like it did previously when I was on the trial).

      Seems like eBay still haven’t fixed up their glitch and I’m able to use Plus codes. I dare say many others are in the same boat.

      I’m not as adventurous as others so wanted to reach out to other OzB’s to see if they still went ahead to use the Plus codes!

        Yeah I am in the same boat, had the automatic credit applied (though I had removed PayPal from eBay so there was no auto-debit in the first place).

        Using the codes would in no way indicate an intention for you to sign up to eBay Plus (no intention to contract).

        In the Plus Weekend T&Cs it says that the offer is only available to eBay Plus members. However, if eBay is offering you an unsolicited discount outside the terms of that offer (that is, you aren't an eBay Plus member but you are being offered a discount anyway) then it is open to you to accept that offer.

        It would have to be viewed as a separate offer outside of the terms of the Plus Weekend offer. In simple terms, if eBay was a person, they have decided that the requirement to be an eBay Plus member doesn't apply in a specific circumstance and I could use the code. I have accepted that offer by using it and paying money to eBay for my purchase.

        TL;DR you will probably be fine
