anyone know what the speeds are for sandisk vs the samsung cards?

    • You won't go wrong with Samsung Evo Plus. It's a U3 card with sustained write way above 30MB/s

      • yes, I got some already
but wanted know if the sandisk ultra was as good

I think the ultra is only 10mb/s write speed ie U1 card right?

        • Class 10 means it's rated for 10MB/s, yes.

        • You should compare the Evo Plus with the Sandisk Extreme, not Ultra. The latter is in a lower speed category.

      • It's hard to say, every generation they change the names slightly, change the spec slightly, and add 'pro' to the name etc

    • SanDisk Ultra 64GB page is showing upto 80mb/sec read speed and no mention of write speed.

Whereas Samsung EVO Plus 64GB page is showing upto 100mb/sec of read and upto 60mb/sec of write speed.

Also notice that Samsung one is showing 4K recording compatible while SanDisk is only showing Full HD combatible.

I just benchmarked the Sandisk Ultra 64GB (the cheaper one) with 10MB samples, using a USB3 reader.

      read: 96.9 MB/s
      write: 38.7 MB/s.

Not bad! Bought a couple more. Thanks.

  • +2

Nice. Grabbed a couple more 64GBs. They're handy for RPis and the like. Also got 2 of those cables. Anyone know what they are like?

  • +3

The $9.99 postage kinda sucks for a microSD…

    • They really want to push eBay Plus…

    • +8

and that just made me empty my cart :(

      • +3

        and that’s not a euphemism

    • -1

urgh, there's something about being shafted that turns you off buying.

  • Ordered six 64gb SanDisk to go with the 8 hikvision cameras from the other deal

  • 2 Evo plus and 2 cables in cart and it's showing $60.27

Used code Pelican saves $10.63 plus $15 for eBay plus

    Can't get it $23.76+$12.75

    • +3

Try purchasing them in two seperate transactions.

    • Yep, do it separately.

  • +1

Got 4x32GBs for Wyze cams in two separate transactions. :)

    • Where do you buy Wyze Cams from that don't have a huge markup?

      • Amazon US. The final price after currency conversation comes up pretty resonable.

  • Are the Samsung EVO Plus any good for long term use in dash cams or security cameras? I use the Sandisk high endurance but 64gb EVO is better value

    • I've had a 64GB evo plus in a security camera for roughly 2 years. No issues whatsoever.

  • Just the thing for my soon to come Pi 4.

    • If you're only buying one it's cheaper to buy it from JB HiFi unless you get free postage from eBay..

  • +2

    Any bigger SD Cards?

  • I've already used the free trial of eBay Plus before and don't think it's worth my while paying for it.

Any problems with this eBay seller? I want a couple of 128GB Micro SD's for dashcams …

Samsung Evo Plus 128GB for $33.95 including delivery by Friday this week

    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Micro-SD-Card-SamSung-Evo-Plus-3…

    • Keen to find out too

      • Will keep you posted, I bought three of them. Good reviews online about the seller and 100% positive feedback rating on eBay since 2013 is a good sign.

    • The above deal is free post for all. No plus needed.

      • Sorry, I was referring to 128GB cards from the same seller where the shipping isn't free unless you've got eBay Plus.

        • Nah, my bad.

My ebay plus free trial is supposed to have expired more than a month ago, but it seems I'm getting the free postage anyway.
If I log out of eBay, I see $10 postage.

  • I bought some in a similar deal previously. Note that they come in Chinese packaging and without SD adapters. They are ok if you don't mind these.

    • how do u know it is not fake?

got a pick of the package?

      • Check out videos on youtube

      • +1
        • that looks dodge.
you know Chinese make fake things with fake real packaging?
not that I know what real ones look like either.

          • @furyou: chinese are really good at cloning stuff to look like genuine

            just google airpod clones..

          • @furyou: I have no doubt they are genuine, just for different market. If they want to fake, it would make more sense to fake with the English packaging. And Shopping Square is not a small time fly by night seller, they have too much to lose selling fakes.

Thanks, can never have enough of these, ordered 2x 32GB & 2x 64GB Samsung cards.

Comes in handy for multiple RPi builds & can just swap them over.

    • can u use 64gb for installing OS on RPi?, currently using 32GB on my RP2

      • I use my RPi's mainly for emulation, 32GB & 64GB work without an issue.

      • There does not seem to be an upper limit for any of the Raspberry Pi boards.

The only thing mentioned in any Google searches is the fact that SD Card manufacturers normally format their 32gb+ cards in Exfat. This should not matter at all if you are going to reimage, or clone your current OS/SD card onto the new 64gb card.

        TL;DR: yes.

Purchased some stuff and now feel urge to neg the deal because

1 ) Paypal shows it as Zapals Tech Corp ( and I still have few items from last year they never shipped on (assumption its the same as the former zapals.com))
    and
2 ) I ordered two of the endurance SD cards and was charged for both and not just 1 (have sent email asking to confirm).

And yes I should have checked closer but with a few items in the cart and trying to rush while having lunch at work - my fault — either way I'm not impressed.

      Hi digitaiaxon

      1) Zapals Tech Corp is never related to Zapals.com (except Zapals.com was a supplier)
      2) Our team should be to help you within 1 working day, or you may PM if you need any additional help

      cheers

      • Thank you for clarifiying that zapals tech is not related to zapals.com

I've messaged your team yesterday when I realised the mistake so hopefully expect a response soon - if it gets too messy to resolve it might be easier to ask them to cancel the entire order and I'll just re-order the items I ordered individually rather than together which might be why its gone pear shaped somewhat for me.

If I don't hear from them by tomorrow I'll PM you with the order details.

        Thank you.

    • omg not zapals, they took 3 months to not ship anything.

  • +2

Don't buy anything from this company.
I placed my order on Jun 4 but never received the SD cards and they refused to refund either.
    Bad seller!

    • PayPal refund?

      • I used ebay gift card.

        • Oh crap I thought it was shopping express I hope the 8 cards and 2 cables I bought show up.

          • +2

@paulaus: No worry, you are dealing with Shopping Square, if you have any problem with your order just contact our team or PM me. I might be able to help

            Cheers

@paulaus: Mine from the last deal arrived in a couple of days with tracking.

Thanks OP I needed some High Endurance micro SD cards.

    • Bought the Canvas go - same price but a little faster -45mbs write. similar spec to samsung evo but cheaper. https://www.kogan.com/au/buy/kingston-64gb-microsdxc-canvas-…

    • That card is only ~10MBps write, that will drive you nuts if you want to fill it up.

      • Is that means not good for security camera ?

        • For a sec camera you'll be fine. Even if it is at 8Mbps bitrate, that's only 1MBps write speed.

I'm mostly referring to if you want to load it up with files rather than slowly dumping data on it.

I can't really comment on the constant writes and how long that Kingston would last though, an endurance version would be better suited.

  • Are the 128gb on sale too?

  • Good price , just too bad they are oversea version card , not sure any differences but

    • I have both local and foreign ones. After testing both, there aren't any differences other than the language on the packaging.

    • I purchased the overseas version from ebay(via an ozbargain deal) two years or so ago. It died about a year after, card wouldn't write, only read. I sent it in to Samsung(prepaid envelope) who happily replaced it with an even better model. I wouldn't worry.

    • Then ones I got from their last deal (few weeks ago) were English packaging and not Chinese. I haven’t tested them yet.

      • did it come with a SD card adapter?

        • Sandisk ultra - No adapter
Sandisk high endurance - Yes, came with an adapter.
Evo - Didn’t order ithem last time.

This store never shipped my items until a month later (my mothers day gift arrived a month later) after repeated messages.

    • Mine from the last deal arrived in a couple of days with tracking.

Thanks OP grabbed the Samsung EVO Plus 64GB Micro SD

  • -2

I think ridiculous shipping cost should be clearly indicated in the title or the body, specially when a $12 item has $15 shipping.
Rather than just saying free with eBay+

  • +1

Ordered two samsung sd cards. Good deal.

  • +1

Exactly the items I was looking for at the right time

Bought four cables and 2 Samsung 64gb cards

    THANKS!

Hopefully these cables are good quality…

Bought from these guys before, never had any issues.

    Thanks OP.

Btw, the checkout may not display the pelican discount properly upon finalisation but if you check your payment source (ie. gift card checker), you'll see the pelican discount should be applied.
