  • You could just buy a regular solar charger and stick it on a regular backpack…

I also hope it doesn't output at 6v like it seems to say.

    • Got any sources for good, cheap solar chargers?

  • 5.5v 500mA is the battery output, which is fine to charge your phone or other small devices.
6v 400mA is the solar panel output, which is also fine to charge your phone or other small device..

Obviously wouldn't power up ur microwave tho..

    • 6V is wayy too much for a mobile phone?

So this is basically a solar panel tacked onto a cheap and nasty looking backpack?

I wish business were as easy as: solar panel + backpack = profit!

99c, no reserve with free postage on eBay (and 0 bids as I write this)

That's how some people post items on eBay: they never expect it to sell for 99c, but they set the opening bid very low to intice interest from potential bidders. Someone has already bid, and no doubt put a $20 or $30 bid in there, but unless someone else bids (and they will), you won't see the max bid.

ongoing ebay auctions (and in fact any ebay auction) are not bargains.
come back when you find buy it now

    • There was no reason to neg this deal. On eBay, auctions have 3 separate fees they charge sellers.

      1. Insertion fees (cost of the initial starting price. I think from $0.00 to $19.99 for the item theyre selling, it costs them about $1.25, more than $20.00 will obviously cost more).

      2. Picture fees (first pic free, any additional pics 0.25c etc).

      3. Final value fees (they take another certain amount from what the final bidding price is).

The reason why you see so many auctions starting at a low price for expensive items such as mp3s, phones, TVs etc. Is because there is a big difference in how much the seller will be charged by eBay if he started his auction price at say $200 (would cost at least $10-$20 for insertion fees) rather than 0.99c ($1.25 insertion fee).

If you know for sure that the ending price for your item will sell high and that people will be bidding… Then you may aswell take advantage and save $ by putting the initial price lower - which is what this seller has done. Also like cluster said, starting at a low price also draws interest to potential buyers lol.

Well now you know lol… At least you did your price-matching research.

I know all of this :-)

I could have written this product is mostly rubbish.

Point of the eBay comment is this bag is a speculative bargain at best. I like OzBargain but not keen on seeing reps push deals that is the same rubbish flogged on eBay, inflate the price, then suggest it is now massively discounted.

The price being charge is exactly the same price as you can buy it from a Chinese drop shipper. I can put a link to the site (in Chinese) but figured most people wouldn't be able to read that.

        • I agree 100%.
And I'm sorry but the neg on your comment here was me :( I'm on my phone and hit it accidentally while scrolling. I can't see how I can remove it :(

        • Ahh I understand, my apologies!

  • Wish this could power a Laptop, but never gonna happen with 5.5V :(

Pity there's no information about how large the backpack is, how many pockets etc etc. No idea if there's even a pocket for a laptop.

It would seem like a good idea for people who want to go on long walks and not risk being out of touch with a flat mobile battery, but without knowing the size of the backpack it's impossible to know if it's a day-pack size, or if it would just fit a few books and a small laptop.

More information would make it a more attractive deal.
