Which iPhone to Buy Second Hand ?

I am due for a new iPhone, I currently have a 6 and its just about had it unfortunately as it has served me well.
I am going to purchase one outright secondhand - what model would you purchase - iPhone 7 or pay a bit more and get an 8 ?

better not unless you are buying from close friend. too many scammers out there you have been warned. just check ozb and whirlpool threads

I've had plenty of good selling and buying experiences with second hand iPhones. Just avoid the "new user" ebay or gumtree ones e.g. member since June 2019. Buy from a person with sales history and you'll be fine.

Def go for the faster CPU in the 8 over the 7. Cost difference wont be much now.

I'd buy a brand new 6S. You can get them for around $385 when on sale, should be able to get $400 easily.

Will run iOS 13, not as heavy with the stupid glass back, has headphone socket, you can get new for a good price with Apple warranty.

    • Oh wow thank you, I didnt even know you could still buy a 6S !! Excellent advice, I have always been happy with my 6 so I will do this.

I second what Dom said. My wife has a 6S Plus, IMO the best iPhone ever made. Thicker metal than the 6 and 6 Plus, better built.
First with the A9 chip, which keeps it current, last with the earphone socket.

We ended up with the 6S Plus over the weekend - purchased off gumtree ! :)

  • I think I got the 7 a while back for around $450? or $500 on mobileciti? Refurbished and I know a bit pricey but I think it has one year warranty. I absolutely loved it, if it wasn't because of a few things I dislike about apple (I'm typically an Android person) I probably would've stayed. I think an 8 or higher would be better though, I feel 7 is okay right now, but likely you'll want to be able to keep your phone for a few years at least.

  • My wife has a 7 and I have an 8. I would definitely be happy with a 7 to save a few bucks (if you don't need want wireless charging)

Op check gumtree plenty of bargains have picked up 2 x xr64gb for $700 each this year, new and sealed, check serial no’s first can’t go wrong, have bought probably 15-20 phones off gumtree over the years never had one problem.
Some don’t like it on here probably as they can’t bargain and too scared to to take the punt lol.

Also picked up 2 iPhone 8 256gb for $600 a few months old in mint condition.
Best Buy a year ago or so was a X64gb for $1000, was bought 2 days before for $1529 from jbhifi with reciept.
