Was talking up these codes to a work friend, but alas, all three are gone. Perhaps they finally realised that they were being OzBargained hard.

i gather they could have pulled the promo .. once they realised that people were buying 5 x 4gb usb for $5.50
they surely would have lost 10's of thousands of dollars (but gained the same about of cc details)

It doesn't matter what items get bought, they still "lose" $20 per code. So, people could use the code and buy a $20 box of biscuits for $5.50, or a $20 box of paper for $5.50. Or $20 worth of Artline Pens… doesn't matter, it's the same $20 discount irresepective.

Errr - what the? The codes are a Promotion. The WHOLE IDEA of them is to create new business. There's no ripoff - they were using the coupons to gather new clients. And it worked great - probably a bit too well, as they probably didn't realise the power of viral / social network marketing. LOL
In this case, (whilst I shudder as I type this) what Staples did wrong was to have 3 codes active at the same time, and also not putting a minimum spend on it. So, you could use a $20 code on a $20 transaction.
The earlier code (first 1TB HDD deal) was a $20 code on an $80 spend). Nowhere near as attractive of course.
wow i can't use the usb's as an example? they've had the code out for a couple of weeks now and they pull the promotion around the same time that there's usb stock gets depleted. sorry for making a correlation.

I think the point was "NEW" clients based on postal addresses (not people using multiple email addresses)
The promotion was for new customers (who would hopefully become repeat customers)
I think that those with new accoutns actually got their items this time
If you actually call the Staples hotline and ask for a code, they wont give it to you if you have used multiple email addresses-they just don't have one allocated

The original source of the game code was the rock, paper, scissors game on their website. It's still up and going through it produces the above voucher.

If you only used one set of codes then you are showed more restraint than me…
I had made a spreadsheet to keep track of which codes I had used on which accounts… and was intending to spread it out a bit longer, maybe another week.

I thought the GAME20 code is the only one that's suppose to have expired on 31/05? Yes both OFF20 and SAVE20 are gone :-(
