For 3 quick buyers, you can save another $100 on here (moderators did not allow me to publish this deal as they considered it insufficient quantity, not like there will be a stampede to spend $3000):
    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Sony-Alpha-ILCE7RM3B-A7R-MK-III-…
So, EBAy price $3290, minus code PROMPT $200, minus Sony EFTPOS $300 = $2790!
(it seems Video Pro is on their participating sellers list https://promo.sonyanz.com/redemptions/sony-australia-bonus-d…)

  • Thanks OP. Decided to get this just recently so I don't know much about price.
    1. Is the cheapest for this?
    2. Should I wait for A7 r4 or just get this one?
Thinking about migrating from Fuji so there's a lot of cache at stake! And I don't wanna lose even more buying something which needs upgrading very soon. But not sure when R4 is released.

    • There will always be a new camera around the corner. Does this one fit your needs?

      • Yes, but so does any high megapixel camera. AF is not a concern nor is the video for me. Looking for something for landscape photography only with good and at the same time affordable glass. What prevents me from migrating to Sony is the glass not the body. Heard sth about Pentax K-1 but not sure about its glasses. Currently owning 10 Fuji lens so you should imagine how careful I should be with this switch!

See if you can rent one out for a weekend with a couple of lenses to test, before taking the plunge

    • If you need to be asking 'should I get this?' for a $3k camera you probably shouldn't. This cameras pros and weaknesses are well established.

I would wait for R5 instead.

    • R4 hasn't been announced yet, I would imagine it won't be released this year, or perhaps at the end of this year at the earliest.

  • Also this price at Harvey Norman if people fancy a click and collect

  • If I buy this camera and a lens and claim TRS at the airport, what do I do upon return from holiday? Simply declare the camera/lens that I previously claimed for?

    • Then you pay back the 10% GST :)

      • Surely not. What's the point of TRS thenif you have to pay the refund back?

        • Well, are you a tourist?

          • @wittyusername: Australian resident going on holidays. Most OZBs are regularly talking about TRS but I could not get clarity about the returning home process

            • @ChatGPT-4: The TRS is the tourist refund scheme. It is for tourists as them paying GST on an item.

Australians are allowed to bring up to $900 worth of duty free goods into the country. If you claim the TRS on this camera and then declare it, or it gets found in your possession upon arrival, you will have to pay the fees associated. You can share the $900 with family members.

              Read this for more info.

              https://www.abf.gov.au/entering-and-leaving-australia/touris…

              • @wittyusername: Great thanks for that. So really if you purchase anythying up to $900 and claim TRS you should be able to return with paying the GST back should you not bring in any other items of value
