Best TV 65" or bigger under $2.2k

Do you ever get lost in all the tech talk and the best TV being subjective to how your going to use it. Well I'm looking for the family vehicle. HDR for gaming in a lit up area, it will be wall mounted with streaming content from Plex, Netflix and YouTube.

I've seen a few that stand out but I am after some opinions for those that have been doing the same research for an end of financial year bargin.

Appreciate the help.

    I have done my research:
Go to the top right corner of ozb, type in your search word and hit search. Sort by latest date. Please share if you find better ones.

    • What's you search word?

Your budget is almost double mine, but I'm really looking for to the next Hisense P7 65". I read a lot of good reviews online, and OzB loves to rave about this product. I'm waiting for it to be around $1,050. For your budget, you'd hopefully be looking at something in the OLED range?

  • Samsung NU8000 or Sony X900F.

    • Sony X900F has been on the radar.

      I'll look at both.
      Thanks

  • LG OLED B8 is the best :)

  • Have a look on this post I created: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/466511
With this money you can grab a Samsung 75" UA75RU7100 for $1849.99
It is a hell of a dell. If you wanna have a crazy quality look for the QLED series.

Keep away from OLED if you play a lot. They have burn-in screen problem. I am playing Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice and it has a lot of icons that doesn't change that much so you can (profanity) your screen if you play games like that for hours like me.
Sony + Android = Headaches. These models have lag delay so it might drive you crazy.

    Good hunting…

  • The Wirecutter puts these kind of things in very human-readable language, should point you in the right direction.

You'll have trouble finding the C8 now, so look for the B8. 55in at JB for <$2k so the 65in shouldn't be that much more (couldn't see it listed after a quick search though). Maybe try Good Guys eBay?
If you're not looking to go the whole hog, check out Wirecutter's other TV reviews but some might not be available in Aus.

  • Dont bother with anything that is an edge lit lcd like Nu8000 or RU7100. You can pick up a good Sony x900f refurbished from sony for 2.3k on ebay with 1yr warranty

  • Like everyone is suggesting go the Sony x90f.

Keep an eye out for great deals. There should be some good ones coming for EOFY. Also, if you can wait until Black Friday (29th Nov) you'll probably get a good bargain.

  • For some reason I love Philips Ambilight . No idea if the TV is any good, but love the Ambilight.

    • Overseas models are reasonable, but here they have a very limited range, which is either quite old or not so great. But I agree, ambilight is really cool.
