[Sydney] Kitchenaid 28cm Fry Pan $29.95 David Jones Cbd

90

Saw this at the CBD David Jones in the afternoon, down from $99 to $30 for the 28cm, thought it's a pretty good price. Not sure if it's available at other DJs.

The pan has a plastic handle yet oven safe up to 180 degree.
Quality feels like the cheaper Tefal range which goes for $60-80 in Kmart/Target normally.
Fairly light, doesn't really feel like a $100 RRP pan.

Anyone has experience with kitchenaid cookwares?

  • Kitchenaid electrical appliances are fantastic, but I don't know about utensils like frying pans.

    • Kitchenaid make excellent mixers (and other appliances), but they don't make their own cookware. They licensed out their brand to Hong Kong cookware manufacturer Meyer (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meyer_Corporation), who own brands like Circulon and Anolon (amongst many others).

I haven't used Kitchenaid or Meyer-made cookware before, though, so I can't comment on the quality.

      • I have used their stuff before (circulon/analon), its good - probably as good as scanpan or near enough, especially if you dont like the fact that scanpans are very heavy.
Plus circulon/analon pans of this size are usually $100 so $30 is cheap.

  • Worth a try I reckon, it's only marginally more expensive than the Tefal's you get from Kmart/Target.

  • i have the kitchenaid 20cm and 28cm skillet set and they are great, prefer using them over my bessemer

    • I think I also saw a KitchenAid skillet set in Victoria's basement going for $80. So DJ's price is actually $20 cheaper. Very rare to see DJ beating VB's price.

      • i got my skillet set for $49 delivered from www.cookwarebrandsoutlet.com.au, but they are out of stock of the skillet set at the moment (worth checking every now and then). they have the 20cm lavender in stock for $29.95 + postage at the moment, so this DJ one is a good price.

  • I'm using a Kitchenaid saucepan now.
Had it for ages and its still great.
    IMO, I'll rate it 8.5/ 10.

I tried to be careful with it as my past +$200 pans have all lost its non-stick property pretty quickly.
I had some Victorinox Diamond coated and Scanpan high end all bought from sales that would have otherwise costed almost $300-$400.
None have been worth the high price.

Kitchenaid dough mixers are great. Bought it in 2004 and its still going strong. Back then they were only RRP$600. Now its $800 so I dunno if its still worth it.
Kitchenaid blenders aren't too bad either. It's not high speed so sometimes I'll need to switch to my Sunbream high speed for some tasks.

  • Bought 2 of those 28cm today. Plenty of 20/24cm ones but only about 10 of those 28cm left.
