EOFY Sales a Real Fizzer?

So its July 1st and I was just thinking, is it just me or have the EOFY sales been a bit rubbish this year?

After price watching a lot of stuff a lot of things I noticed that anything that went on sale for EOFY just appeared to be the same price. No real massive discounts anywhere to be seen.

Did anyone pick up anything for an amazing bargain for EOFY?

    Yes.

But don't forget many brick and mortar stores are having to have year-long sales to compete with online. So the usual "Myer 40% off EOFY" or whatever are basically running all day every day now as they struggle to survive. So you're not gonna see as many exciting headlines any more.

Also you're probably desensitised to sales in general now due to the thrice weekly ebay 20% off sales.

Although I'm assuming we might see a few stock take sales now it's July 1….even from online retailers.

They were … but then brain dead idiots voted to apply a GST on their own purchases.

      • Which 'brain dead idiots' are you referring to?

        • Mr Lab

  • I managed to get some clothes for a good price and alsona hard drive.

Depends, as an amazon and and ebay plus member i found that through these sites they were quite good

  • Just got some more uniqlo warm heatec shirts

  • I got 2 pairs of Converse rrp120 for $65 and $45, with cashback bringing it down to $55 total. Could’ve been clearance stock to be reduced anyway, but the design is bog standard and colours were normal.

Seems like some of the 40-45% off computer sales is kinda legit, helped by the constant technological evolution. Obsoleting is nothing new new of course.

In general though? Sales hype has been watered down with internet and more people struggling with underemployment and disposable income.

  • My wife picked up some random things at DJs…ie 50% off already reduced red tag items recently. Gotta search hard though.

  • I agree that the offerings seemed limited. I usually find some quite good deals that are worth getting in for, but very little this year seemed to jump off the page. As others have suggested, most of the "sales" were no better than the others that are basically on constant rotation.

  • Managed to snare a Hisense 65P7 for $970 at Harvey Norman of all places (the only other place with stock was JB Hi-fi at $1185). It was the last one in the warehouse, so I'm not sure if the discount was part of EOFY or just a clearance of the P's for the new 2019 R's. Regardless I was chuffed.
