  • Does this need an electrician to install?

    • Definitely

      • +3

I would say it depends how your existing oven is wired. If it is hard wired, then yes, an electrician will need to come and fit off a power socket behind the oven cavity.

If the existing oven is fitted with a plug and cord like this one, then it is simple plug and play.

        • But this one is hardwired?

          • @RocketSwitch: The picture on the good guys website shows a plug

            • @riklarkin: Yeah, I noticed that, Appliance Online says hardwired lol

              Who right?

              • +1

@RocketSwitch: It does not have a plug, I know because I only bought it because it was meant to have one. Good guys paid for an electrician to come out and fit a 15a plug to it when I complained.

                • @automated: Thanks for confirming :)

                • @automated: Have just been very verbally abused by local good guys manager who basically said I am lying in regards to telling him that another goodguys in fact sent out electrician free to attach plug, citing your comments.Any chance I could know the store you dealt with???

              • @RocketSwitch: All whirlpool ovens are 15amp. Therefore hardwired. None come with plug/10amp functionality. Only very selected builders range products do. Like technika and omega for example…

                • @Carporium: Why does Appliance Online say some plug and some hardwired?

                  • @RocketSwitch: Generically that's true across ALL OVENS. For whirlpools 2018 and 2019 models it's hardwired only.

                    • @Carporium: Thanks for clearing that up :) Much appreciated.

                    • @Carporium: No. Just bought a brand new Whirlpool oven (60cm pyrolytic). Comes with 15A plug.

        • Thanks. I live in an apartment and the one we have now is built into the lower shelving with no plug visible, so I'm assuming it's hard wired and therefore I'll require an electrician to uninstall the existing and install the new one?

        • +1

thanks for whoever negging me, I'm not electrician myself but based on the specs and the way Australian household electrical is wired, very high chance that most oven need to be hardwired.

will it cheaper to buy from THE eBay?

    • Yes! They've just dropped the price on ebay (they hadnt at the time of posting) - good work

  • +2

Ebay shows stock at Robina and Helensvale, but won't let me purchase click & collect from either, citing 'unavailable'.

    :(

    • +1

I have first hand knowledge stores will run out of stock quick.. but there is hundreds available still to order… but click and collect won't work if there is no stock in store to collect. Go to the Store and order one…

      • Yep, that's what I did yesterday. No 20% discount but still great offer and not worth messing about with.

  • +1

No stock for click and collect in Sydney on eBay but direct on their website there is stock

  • Saying code can't be applied to order?

  • Not available for Click and Collect in WA. Postage cost is $54.90

    • +1

Got mine. You should not have slept in so late 🙂

  • Got through to check out. In stock Helensvale. Confirm and Pay THEN: This item isn’t available in the requested quantity. It may have been purchased already, or the listing has expired. Super annoying.

    • Try appliances online price match.

    • Same - same location too. Tried PC and mobile.

  • I just bought the ceramic cooktop https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/468200 and the oven in this post - both on the GG website. At checkout GG automatically discounted $38.40 as a promo. Noice!

  • I can't believe ovens still have knobs to set temperature in today's age. Why don't they have digital controls?

    • +2

Cos knobs are so much bloody faster than having to continually press or hold a touch button till it reaches your desired number.

Some manufacturers have good digital controls, but so far on my score card I assume most don't.

      • It's more accurate though. A lot of things have to be cooked at say, 180C, but the ovens only have markers at 150 and 200, so you have to "guess" where 180 is - somewhere between the two. Digital controls would solve the problem so easily.

        • So would literally a couple of dots.
This oven has 180 marked and even my cheap ass freebie Euro oven has marks every 20 degrees to be close enough to use. But I take your point if an oven (or any device) is like that it's not great to use, but anyone who does that probably can't be trusted adding an accurate digital screen properly anyway.

          • @dufflover: Sorry, my mistake. My oven has markers at 175 and 200, so for 180 you still have to guess.

            • +1

@AussieZed: Nothing has to be cooked exactly at 180 or 170 or 210.

But if you’re doing molecular gastronomy, you probably need that LCD and some other gear.

              • +3

@pizzaguy: I should correct myself - knobs/dials are fine, as long as they're digital and not analog. As in, as long as you have a digital read-out and can get an exact temperature by using said knobs; that solution is much faster than having to hold down a button.

    • It's most likely an opportunity to upsell. The next model up with a clock was only $15 or so more expensive. I want to put it into a rental, so simple is better.

    • +3

I also dont need a 24/7 LCD display consuming electricity and telling me the incorrect time

      • I'm not saying you need a clock at all. Simply a small LCD readout for the temperature, which would turn on when the oven is turned on. Therefore no electricity consumption.

        • +1

It looks like this oven the clock is always on though?

        • imagine pressing the button from 0 to 180 degrees…

          • @funnysht: You can have a dial/knob instead of buttons, which would adjust the temperature digitally (this is not the same as the analogue controls seen on this oven).

            • @AussieZed: ii guess..but imagine all those OCD cooks trying to get exactly 180

              • @funnysht: What do you mean? That's what the digital display would be for - to show you the exact temperature. You then use the knob to adjust it. Couldn't be easier.

  • is this fan forced?

    • Yes. Aren't all electric ovens fan-forced now?

Still available on eBay, $188 with code PRETZEL
