Portable 13" laptop

Hi I'm trying to find a portable 13" laptop
That has a moderate battery life (6hr)
Under an inch thin
has some capacity to play games
and not over 1.2k

Thank you!

  • The specs are quite restrictive IMO.

the only thing that comes to mind is:

    or an ASUS

mind you 1.2kg is very very light (netbook territory).

    • i think he means 1.2k as in price

  • Sorry meant 1.2k as in price not 1.2kg
Thank you for your help so far (:

  • You won't find many 13.3 laptops that are less than an inch think. If they are, they'll using a CULV chip and integrated graphics to keep heat down. What you're looking for is impossible I'm afraid.

  • NOT in Australia. You will be looking to import. If import is not your option, dont bother asking anymore.

But you will be looking at Asus u36/sony Sb series. Make sure they have sandybridge cpu, aka 2nd gen intel mobile processors.

  • So the technology doesn't really exist in Australia atm? Kind of a shame really.

Referring to jasec post, a Asus U36 is available at jbhifi at
    http://www.jbhifionline.com.au/computers-laptops/laptops/asu…
But from what I can tell its not a sandybridge is it?

    • No thats not sandybridge.

      • worth getting?

    • not that technology doesnt exist, but the fact that everything in australia is at least a couple hundred dollars more than USA makes it not possible to obtain in Aus. Things are alot cheaper in USA, especially when you come to consumer electronics.

  • Thinkpad x220 12.5inch with i7-2620,less than 3lbs, order from US lenovo site. $899 using AMEX card.Almost half price here even if you pay import tax and any other fees.

  • Or around $1000 by using US-issued VISA or MasterCard.(priceusa can do that).

  • +1

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834220…

    ASUS U36 Series
    Core i5 480m (first generation)
    4GB RAM
    500GB 7200RPM drive
    Nvidia G310m switchable graphics
    Weight 1.7kgs

It might come close to $1100 after being shipped via parcel forwarding service.

    • I was gonna suggest the same one, great specs whilst maintaining portability and battery life. If this was in my budget, id definately buy it. (Instead im going for the lower U31F model which is also pretty good).

  • Sony Vaio Z

    • LOL…thats 3.6k at rrp. GREAT advice only triple OP's budget

  • Got a ASUS U36JC from JB Hi-fi 2 months ago for $1200. A little fragile but no bad at all performance-wise.

  • Thank you for all your help,
probably head down to some of the shops tomorrow and
    check it out.

  • Toshiba Portege are nice also. Love my 13" 705 that I got from the states. Something like 1.3kg
