    Rainbow Bar Bomb

Pretty sure it's against the rules to post deals about bombs.

I don't know… Achmed might give them a click or two

LOL, congratulations on perpetuating a stereotype.

"The United States Government, under the Trump administration, reportedly drops a bomb every 12 minutes, which means that 121 bombs are dropped in a day, and 44,096 bombs per year. The Pentagon’s data show that during George W. Bush’s eight years he averaged 24 bombs dropped per day, that is, 8,750 per year. Over the course of Obama’s time in office, his military dropped 34 bombs per day, 12,500 per year. This shows that even though American presidents are all war criminals, Trump is the most vicious of them all."

How and why is this on OzBargain, other than to advertise/spam your product?

    • +3

I would guess it's on Ozbargain because it is a product you can purchase. The how is pretty obvious, posting a deal and the like. The why is because its cheaper than regular price, therefore a deal/bargain?
The fact the guy probably makes and markets them himself is irrelevant, hell if anything its better because he believes in it enough to post a deal and get scathing remarks like yours. Good on him/her for getting out there and creating something. I buy a type of candy only made by one facebook seller, a chutney from another because they're so nice and well priced. Very market stall artisan
Finally, bars like this go for $8+ at random market stalls and the quality can change drastically, having an online store with one repeat seller is kind of cool for artsy cutesy items like this. And chutneys. I need to see more market chutneys online.

So if I create and sell a product, and post it on here saying it's normally $100 but it's a bargain at $3 this week, that's okay? I have just noticed that half the "bargains" on OzBargain lately are just people trying to push their products rather than genuine bargains. I don't come on OzBargain for that. Would maybe be nice if there was a filter to cut that out?

I'm not directing this at this particular seller by the way (well, the down vote would probably indicate otherwise). Maybe most don't agree with me given the two negative votes for my previous comment, but OzBargain is turning into one giant ad more than genuine bargains, which is a shame

        • +4

Well…if you actually sell said product for $100 and have proven sales, then discount it at $3 of course! Post away, that's a deal I'll get behind.
If you're just making a site and putting ridiculous prices on things and discounting to make it seem like a deal looking for a sucker.. Of course not. That just mean and immoral.
This guy sells a real product. that people REALLY buy, just look at LUSH, they sell bars like this for 12+ and get prime real estate next to Myer! What you propose in your hypothetical is nowhere near the same.

          • +1

@lette: Also, what about Jims Jerky? They started off self promoting on here and other sites, now theyre in stores. How is this any different?

            • @lette: Good on them (I mean that)… But jn the same vein, I don't agree with their self promotion on the site either. Since when is OzBargain about self promotion?

          • +2

@lette: Yes but Lush don't advertise on OzBargain. To me, OzBargain is a site about the buyers, not the sellers, if that makes sense.

I may be alone in my opinion, but I can't be the only one sick of looking through the deals every day and trying to fish out genuine user-posted bargains amidst all of the self-promotion.

n.b. I have nothing against small business and wish more people would get behind them… in fact I'm working on opening my own; I just don't think this is the forum for advertising your goods.

            • @JCurran: Yer It’s sad these deals get posted so frequently filling ozbargain up.. no real special -_-
Or they should have an option for those that you want to see only deals that are like a certain % off.

            • +1

@JCurran: LUSH is an example of how the product is worthy. Jims Jerky was the example of self promotion.

Yeah, you kind of are. That's fair enough. We're entitled to our own opinions. If we didn't have them people wouldn't buy $12+ bars of soap or fancy cars, or whatever floats their particular boat.
The problem was your comment was incredibly negative IMHO. I just want to make sure this guy doesn't feel like he SHOULDN'T post because he handmade it. If anything he should post even more.
I make a prosciutto I sell to industry friends. If that dried up Id consider selling online and maybe posting here as its cheaper than Primo on special and much better. I commend this guy for trying to sell his wares and do something independent.

              • +4

@lette: I commend him too and didn't mean my post to be so negative towards him; I probably should have posted it in the forums somewhere instead. I still stand by my comments that OzBargain is becoming increasingly useless and more like a giant advertisement though, and I find it a shame.

                • @JCurran: Fair call there lately, It has been more sifting than clicking in the new deals section. I just don't know if this guy falls into that. Right about it being a damn shame otherwise.

                  • +2

@lette: What a nice civilised discussion, makes a pleasant change to people attacking each other for having different opinions. No snarkiness or personal attacks, bravo. Just sad I guess that this is now more uncommon, it should not warrant being commented on, and yet here I am.

                    • @OzBargain F5er: Thanks and amen to that. I hate pointless fighting when all one is trying to do is express an alternative opinion. More than one answer can be right people! Probably why I gave up on social media. Errgh.

        • Sellers get called out rightly for doing that all the time, this seller isn't.

  • How much are they normally?

    • +5

$6 each or 6 pack is normally $34

  • +1

Look cool as thanks for sharing discount.
