20% off Spectra Breast Pumps - Birthday Sale 15-22 July @ Spectra Baby

120

The birthday sale on 15-22 July brings the:

  • Spectra S1+ Hospital Grade Double Electric Breast Pump with inbuilt rechargeable battery down to $303.20 (normally $379)
  • Spectra S2+ Hospital Grade Double Electric Breast Pump to $239.20 (normally $299)

This includes delivery as it's free delivery over $100.

I have the S1+ after trialing so many pumps (including a very popular supposed hospital strength pump at double the price… but that was bollocks), and it's worked the best for me - much stronger with so many options. The soft plastic parts have lasted ages and it also comes with multiple converters that fit all sorts of bottles, meaning you're not locked into a brand. I wish I had heard of this brand far sooner than I did, so I hope this saves someone a fair bit of hunting.

Note my payments were processed in Singapore so make sure you use a card that's free from international transaction fees.

Edit - thanks @khdsl:

It's a storewide sale so parts will also be 20% off as per their announcement https://www.facebook.com/events/435012290675265/

  • How about their part? Just pump on sale?

    • Sounds like only the pumps. But have a look on 15th - sometimes the parts get discounted too.

    • Storewide - Everything including parts will be discounted.

  • Got the S1, kept both the better half and bub happy so I'm happy!

  • Never tried a different one, but we're on second baby with a spectra pump. Seems fine.

  • We tried a couple of others. Tommee tippee, which we had no problems with but until it suddenly didn't work anymore. Medela Swing which was pathetic and always managed to leak.

This one has been perfect so far, so highly recommended.

Good prices for hospital grade pumps. Thanks for posting OP.
A heads up though for those who might be wanting to claim via Health Insurance. I’m with Teachers Health and they were denying claims for pumps purchased direct from Spectra as they are overseas based. However I was able to get a local supplier to price match the S1 sale price and claim went through no worries. It’s worth checking out your policy (with top extras cover I got $150 back) and your insurer prior to purchase.

    • Which local retailer did you go through?

        I’ve sent you a pm

        • Could you let’s know which retailer you went through too LeeLee.

          • @Coonyal: Can’t pm you - maybe look at your settings?

  • Anyone know of any places in Brisbane area selling these that will price match?

  • Has anyone compared S1/2 with S9? Leaning towards the S9 because of portability…

Website says that the S1 and S9 are both portable with an inbuilt rechargeable battery. S1 and S2 are superior units to the S9 because they have additional features including more customisable suction options, a night light and timer, hence the higher prices.
The S1 seems like the winner if not for the bulkier unit but you can buy their transport carry bag for it to store everything in. I would also recommend ordering spare parts like valves etc. Their website has handy info as to what needs to be replaced after x months. There is also a link provided in their breastshield size guide so you can measure yourself and order the right shield too. Saves time getting it with the unit if the default size 24mm doesn't fit.

S1 is bulky but portable - I take it to and from the office daily. It fits inside my old Medela bag still. The main reasons behind buying it was that it could be portable but still had decent suction, as well as the good reviews.
Can't comment on the S9 but I didn't go with it as the maximum suction was lower and I didn't want a repeat of my previous pumps. It might have been fine as I don't use the S1 on the maximum settings, but then the S9 also doesn't have the customisation and I do use the customisation heaps.

      • thanks. That is super helpful. I just wonder if I could get away with the S9 and the lower power - if I was going to breastfeed the whole time anyhow and only express every now and then to get the dad to bottlefeed

        • +1

Sorry can't answer that one. Everyone's expressing is different, but length of time doesn't make a difference to my personal supply, for me personally, it's more making the pump mimic what the babies did. Like for both kids, when the pumps mimic the 'letdown' phase, that's closest to how they actually fed, so I got more milk that way. With the S1, I alternate between the letdown and the fastest frequency pumping. So the S9 probably wouldn't work with me as I can't change the frequency of the pumps (i.e. Increase the number of times per minute it pumps). Sometimes I pump on the letdown 100% of the time, and not all pumps on the market are able to do that as it's harder on the pump. But a friend who bought the S2 (she didn't need the portability) used the slowest settings (and she also had problems with other brands because again they didn't over the same level of customisation of pump patterns). And another friend found the stock settings on another brand's pump worked spot on, no never had to switch brands. Hence why I can't answer, as it is a personal thing.

If you're really on the fence, and this is only because I went through 3 pumps/2 brands before the S1, I would personally get the S1 again just because the extra customisation means less chance of it not working if the pump patterns on the S9 aren't for you. But then I haven't seen bad reviews for the S9 or heard things like "I wasted money on the S9 - should have got the S1/S2", so it might be fine, as there is a price difference.

The reviews on Amazon US aren't too bad, and seems to be okay for non-regular use: https://www.amazon.com/Spectra-Baby-USA-Portable-Rechargeabl…

Here's the Amazon US S1 reviews if that helps compare: https://www.amazon.com/Spectra-Baby-USA-Rechargeable-Electri…
