What should I do? Best deal or Moral?

I went to Crazy John today to get 2 Samsung Wave phones on $29twin cap,$200 credit which sharing for 2 phones.
But they didn't have any so they ordered from other shops - interstate.
They told me to come and check it tomorrow.

I just check today bargain and found a deal with Vodafone, same network as Crazy John using. http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/46904
I could pay $15 for each phone that means $30 a month with $180 for each phone and 10%off for existing customer.
But I will get LG mini; not many choices, cheaper phone but I'm not actually care about. I just want a good camera & love the design.

Actually, I had been to Vodafone shop before but a lady there was not… good. Guys in CJ had better services.

I think it's not good for the shop that I went and asked for the phones.
I'm thinking about to show them this deal and see what they can do for the best offer.
My mind is already go for Vodafone deal. I don't think CJ can do any thing better and what is the better or equivalent deal?

What do you guys think?

do what you want to do. I think CJ could find another buyer.

  • You didn't promise to buy, you didn't put down any deposit, they just asked you to check in tomorrow, so I don't see that you are obligated to buy. I'm sure they can find another buyer for the stock. And I don't see any problem with asking them to match the offer. At least they'll know what they are up against.

    • I've been there today. It's turned up only 1 phone, they said another one will come tomorrow!!

We will see how it goes.

  • Unless you have signed something that binds you to buy the 2 samsung waves (which are better phones) go for the best deal. Ask CJ if there's anything they can do for a better deal.
They can't make you buy the phones, just keep in mind Samsung Wave>LG Mini, but the cap value is LG Mini> Samsung wave. Also CJ>Vodafoneshop in customer service.
Don't take it so simply, just because CJ + Samsung wave vs LG Mini + Vodafoneshop is 2 - 1, if you think like that, I hate you (someone marked my uni submission based on that logic and gave me a 3/10).
Think about the amount you will use each month, also does CJ have voda-to-voda or anything similiar (free calls to network members), as well as does the awesomeness of the phone matter as much? (Samsung wave is VERY NICE. One of my friend has one, very responsive)

    • I didn't sign any papers or pay the deposit.

Actually, we didn't spend much money for calling except sometime calling oversea. But I always keep an eye on the remain credit.

Hope they will give more credit or something like that, as we've been there today but only 1 phone arrived.
(Didn't see a shop manager there so I didn't ask for any offer)

      • Yeah id probably be asking them to match it.
Also keep in mind whether the cheaper deal is limited or not.

  • It's all about the bargain baby….go where ever you get the best price. If they won't beat, or even match the competitor then leave!! It's nice that you feel morally obliged, but CJ are not a mom and pop business, and thus you shouldn't feel bad. Think of it this way, they wouldn't feel bad in trying to rip you off!

      Just come to update.
The manager said "No, we do not offer any special".
End of the story. Didn't say any thing about the phones that we ordered.
      So we just walked away.

      • So, I guess the tl;dr version of this thread would be "Bargains beats morals"? :P
