    • I'm waiting to hear back from zhiyun to see if they can do lower to match or something. No promises but thank you, I've passed on your find.

      • They should try and match the previous amazon lightening deal, which was 30%

These help to make smooth video when you need to move the camera to follow the subject (or walking whilst recording). They are a lot smaller/lighter/easier to use than traditional vest-type, counterbalanced stabilisers.

    • Small-time videographers like myself could use this for shooting weddings/events - a solid gimbal can take you from fairly average looking footage into real smooth, professional looking territory.

      • Gimbal shots don't make footage look professional. It's just a tool to help capture in a specific way.

        • So if you take two shots, one with a gimbal, and one handheld, you're saying the gimbal shot wouldn't look more professional?

          • @ngengerous: Completely depends on what you're trying to achieve. If you need to take a stabilised shot (and someone is paying you to do that), then sure. If you want to take a shot with natural movement, a stabilised camera may not achieve that. Professional just means you get paid to do something. It doesn't mean you are an expert or necessarily skillful.

            • @bargainshooter: help me out guys

MY girl and I were debating in the car.

She said she needed one of these to film in the car….

My perspective was that hey the car is moving… so it will never be a perfect still / smooth video.

She said no it will make a big difference.

              • thoughts? I was driving in NZ in the mountains, LOTS Of movement. Even more movement than when I got ants in my pants after standing on an ant hill as child without realising
              • @AussieMark: That's a hard one. The car is moving, she is moving differently to the car, so the gimbal will stabilise the footage according to what she is trying to hold still (IE her hand position). it won't stabilise the movement of the car, nor her body, so if she is trying to selfie vlog it won't help, but if she is trying to get footage out of the window she is better off attaching the camera (or action camera) to the car itself. If she is attempting a POV video it may have some effect in providing a stable viewpoint whilst the car is bouncing around. Comes down to what you are trying to capture.

                • @aim54x: yeah shes trying to get footage outside the car.

SO perhaps she means like attach it to a stablizer that is attached to the car.

It will help like you said in terms of the hand movement but not anything else

haha I am surprised you actually replied lol

                  Just realised its you

                  • @AussieMark: IF she were to attach it to the car, and have the camera pointed out the window, in theory the gimbal will stabilise out the movement of the car, as long as those movements are within the range of motion that the gimbal can handle. It might be worth looking for some youtube videos demonstrating gimbals in cars.

EDIT: I should add that the vibrations of the vehicle could add another element that will effect it, especially high frequency vibrations (not what a gimbal is designed to counter)
