  • Type 3 diabetes here I come

  • Aren't these made from the bones of dead cows? i.e Gelatin

    • i think that's the least of your worries …

      • heh, well if you think about it, it is pretty horrific :P

        • +8

Wait til you find out where beef comes from.

          Spoiler. More dead cows!

    • +7

i also heard that beef is made from the meat of dead cows. shocking!!

      • I don't mind meat, i love a good BBQ, it's cow/pig bones in my lollies that i don't like.

Surely there's another natural product they could use.

Some idiot came up with the recipe 100 years ago, and no one has bothered to question why

        • Some idiot came up with the recipe 100 years ago, and no one has bothered to question why

Our ancestors started eating other animals' flesh a million years ago, started drinking the milk of other species ten thousand years ago, both now totally unnecessary with plenty of other natural products we could use, but no one has bothered to question why and stop the intentional destruction of trillions of sentient beings every year.

@afoveht: Are you the chosen oracle? You should watch the documentary series 7 up. The political activists ended up worse off than the meat eaters.

            • @[Deactivated]: Yes I've watched them all and just watched 63up the other week.

I think all the participants are "meat eaters;" if any were vegan I'm sure they would have let us know as their first utterance, and otherwise their pasty, frail, protein deprived appearance would bbe clear.

              (Source: I'm vegan.)

They are made out of Snakes that are Alive. The name of the product is the clue.

      • Well I opened up a bag and they were all dead. False advertising.

    • More humane than from living ones.

    • I think what more people are unaware of, is that "carmine", "carminic acid", "cochineal", and "colour 120", are all derived from scale insects. Virtually every Allen's line uses it for red food colouring, so as to appeal to the anti-artificial hysteria surrounding artificial red, made from petroleum byproducts (you'll get diabetes or heart disease long before eating enough red lollies to get cancer from it). Funny how they'll divulge what flowers they use, as if anyone would care, but don't put a simple "derived from scale insects" after "carminic acid". Nothing more than preying on ignorance.

All those "futurists" praising eating bugs, turns out most of the population already is!

    • Better than being made from the bones of alive cows…

Both use carmine (scale insects) in their lollies, so as to attain the "no artificial colours" appellation. Think I'll pass.

      • Source please? According to Coles, the natural food colours are grape skin extract, anthocyanins, black carrot, spirulina, paprika oleoresin and turmeric:

        • You're right, I was mistaken. Turns out most Tim Tam varieties use carmine, though (to their credit, they state that on their site).

          • @ProfessorBargain: It's possible they did in the past but the colours of the current NCC snakes are quite muted, especially compared to the Allen's ones. And they taste a lot better too ;)

    • As an avid snake eater, I completely agree with this.

  • land sakes alive! we're cooking with petrol now!

  • Aldi's Dominion lollies are not bad (tasting, no comment health wise), and from memory 44c/100g.

    • Check the store stocks. Didn't see any at Robina today. All sold out on GC stores.

      Only the 1kg packs.

Cheaper but this comes with free delivery and cashback with Prime

  • Ahh yes, memories as a child of eating too many snakes and requiring manual extraction of body waste.. Enjoy! 🐍💩

    • Umm what? Did you have parents?

    • How old were you! I have had a complex relationship with junk food but I guess I never really reached my potential.
