Hi all,

I've been tracking this smartwatch (version 010-01985-02) for a couple of months with no luck (price fluctuating between $440 and $460, according to camelcamelcamel).

I've just purchased the US model (010-01985-01, instead of the Australian one -02) in the Prime Day for $289.34 (regular price according to amazon is $396.99). IMO, amazon warranty is pretty good to go for the non-Australian version.

Don't forget ca$hback :)

  • Great sports watch for a great price! Been using one for the past few months.

  • Great watch I have one as well. They have added Spotify music now so you can download your favourite playlists onto the watch.

  • Just bought it. Now I'm getting a bit more serious with running, time to go from my 2 year old Xiaomi Amazfit which has served me very well. Want the function to not have to carry my phone.

  • Does this watch have the function of the 235 which you can program in a pace and the watch will tell you when your exceeding it or going to slow?

    • Yes, it will vibrate on your wrist when outside of target zones. A great watch , I love mine.

  • What do people think between this and the Forerunner 735XT? Most reviews I've found find them very similar.

    • +1

Garmin model numbering is very confusing.

    • And now the new Forerunner 45 is in the mix too at this price point.

    • +2

I have the 735XT - I just find it a bit more advanced for fitness (although I probably don't use these advanced features). DC Rainmaker does a good comparison via his comparison tool - I would use that. I would say the 735XT is a fitness watch with smart features, and the Vivoactive is a Smart watch with fitness features.

  • I broke mine yesterday so this is great timing. Still sucks though. :P

  • Does anyone know how the Amazon warranty would work? It is very vague on the website and pretty sure Garmin doesn't have international warranty.

    • Not 100% sure….but here is something interesting on the Garmin US Consumer Limited Warranty site:
      https://www.garmin.com/en-US/legal/consumer-limited-warranty

Australian Purchases: Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and for compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure. The benefits under our Limited Warranty are in addition to other rights and remedies under applicable law in relation to the products. Garmin Australasia, 30 Clay Place, Eastern Creek, NSW 2766, Australia. Phone: 1800 235 822.

Also, I noticed that Catch.com.au is also selling an international Vivoactive 3 (non music) sourced from Taiwan (flash sale item). They note that it has manufacturer warranty and quote the statement above.

Meanwhile, I've pulled the trigger and got one…..haven't seen it anywhere near as good to the boxing day sale price from Amazon.com.au (which I missed) of about $260.

  • Will rebel or any other retailer price match this?

    • This is an overseas model/stock so that's the excuse they'll give not to price match.

  • Any idea if this is better/worse than the Aussie model?? Anything that won't work?? I'm very tempted at that price.

    • Yeah i would like to know too, wonder if Garmin Pay would work

  • do we get 12% cashback on this? as it is via Amazon US?

  • Or if you look closely $241 as a prime deal

    • Is that this model or the non-music one?

      I can't see it.

    • Sorry it is $243

  • Can anyone comment on the music part? A lot of reviews saying it doesn't work right.

    • Tried Spotify (premium) and it works.
I did not try to load my music on it yet (which is supported).

  • What is the difference between the US 01 and Australian 02 models? Apart from price and warranty of course.

  • Does Spotify work in this model?

    Tia

    • Yes, it does. It is a little bit weird how to load music on watch but it works.
However, some times it does not start playing music until you hit another playlist. Looks like a bug.
