  Wouldn't positioning the phone on the air vent absolutely wreck the sound quality of the phone's microphone, especially in loud speaker mode?

  You'd have to turn the fan or a/c off every time you had to talk to the phone.

  Between Google Assistant and Auto voice control and any phone calls you have to receive, it seems like a bad location for the phone.

  I've never used one of these, so am I mistaken in thinking that this is a rubbish design choice?

    Most decent phones have multiple microphones to noise cancel and the main microphone is normally on the bottom or the front.

    Most people use bluetooth and don't use the phone in speakerphone mode.

    Biggest problem with these vent style holders is simply that they block the vent itself from providing a flow of heating/cooling air onto the driver.
