    For example 6x250gm is 1.5kg but brown rice absorbs two times it's weight in water when cooked so you are only getting 500gms of rice, you can buy 1kg of rice from Aldis for $2 so you are really buying $1 worth of rice. The palate is trained by eating simple foods, it becomes untrained by eating strongly flavoured and salty foods. Save yourself some money.

      The appeal is convienice of being able to use a microwave for 40 secs at work as opposed to a rice cooker for 20min

        convenience items are a big killer to the back pocket, most books on personal budgets says to not use them.
