Rift MMORPG $9.99 Collector's Edition $16.99 30 Day Time Card $11.24

100

Get RIFT for only $9.99 this weekend! Or $16.99 for the Collector's Edition! Prices are in USD.

The price is to upgrade your trial account to a full account - it does not come with a free 30 day trial so you'll have to pay for it right off the bat. However, these prices + a month of game time are still cheaper than buying retail.

Here is a 30 day time card for $11.24 (Thanks to izzeho):

http://www.greenmangaming.com/games/mmos/rift-30-day-time-ca…

Effectively making it $21.23 for the game and 30 days of game time!

You'll have to create a trial account first, and then upgrade the game.

For those of you feeling generous, here is my referral link.

Not a bad deal but I think I'll wait until it goes Free To Play like all the other failed MMO's.

Pretty much sums the landscape up really… I think the only successful MMO's will be those that start out free, but most of those are quite crap to begin with. :P

    • +1

Actually it's not that bad and is probably the most successful of the bunch.

      • You'll be waiting a long time. Rift is the most successful MMO since Guild Wars.

Thank you for posting this up kheob. Me and my wife will join soon, I will probably invite another one. What is your in game char name?

Great game, for all wondering if its worth it check out the gamespot review:

    http://au.gamespot.com/pc/rpg/rift-planes-of-telara/review.h…

    • I actually deleted my character because I wanted to use the name but haven't gotten around to it just yet - studying for exams at the moment.

I'll probably be playing after I finish my exams which is after the 22nd. I'll be playing on Briarcliff - Defiant. Not sure about name just yet though but if you did the referral thing I think it automatically adds me to your friends list.

I think the game is quite good. I left WoW after 6 years to play it. Briarcliff server.

People need to leave the WoW-clones to die.

Wait for Guild Wars 2, they aren't releasing it until they're happy with the quality.

And no pay-2-play bullshit, and no class-defined bullshit…

Seriously, sticking people in a class box and telling them to play their role is just like a real world job ffs, thats the whole reason people play games is escapism/fun.

    • +1

The reason I ended my WoW-stint. Got fed up after 5 odd years of being placed in a box.

    • I'm also waiting for GW2. I've held my Rift account open to keep the $10/month sub alive. Which I'll probably sell to someone. I'll give SWTOR a crack too. If you see the name Mustaine in an MMO, it's probably me.
I've been playing D&D on paper for about 20 years and recently shifted the game online and using maptools since one of us is in Canada now.

What if I play a mage?

      • Library broseph!

        +2 Int

-1 Str if you stay too long though

  • I actually like this game, I dont think this will become a free MMO until a long time later

  • Not a deal at all really.

"DOES NOT INCLUDE ANY GAMEPLAY TIME. Credit, debit or game time card will be required to begin gameplay and pay the monthly recurring subscription fee."

So therefore you have to buy a month subscription to be able to play, as you've said. Problem is, this is $15 more. So it is $25. Same price has been on multiple websites (and is on the Rift main site itself). Won't neg it as you can get a 1 month for $11 elsewhere (GMG) and that'll make it cheaper than the best offer I've seen ($24 at D2D). But I think it's rather deceptive.

    • +1

What? That doesn't make sense. If it's cheaper than you can get elsewhere, then of course it's a good deal.

$10 on the RIFT site, plus $11 for 30 days of gametime from GMG, makes it $21. It's $40 on D2D and $35 on GMG, so you're saving at least $14. That's 40% cheaper than you can normally buy it. So yes, it is most definitely a deal.

    • Added the 11 dollar GMG time card to the post, thanks.

  • Y the 30days time card is $14.95 now. did they jack up the price? And you can't pay for the time card with paypal :(

    • Yeah it looks like they have :(

Rift is pretty good, definitely the best MMO i've played since WoW. It has a really smart system where you can change your character's spec/role instantly at no cost anywhere. so for example if you're a cleric you can fill the dps, healer or tanking role all with the same character.

For aussies the unoffical servers are:

    Rift Oceanic PVE Server: Wolfsbane

    Rift Oceanic PVP Server: Briarcliff

    Rift Oceanic RP Server: Faeblight

And here's my referral link :)
