  • Reviews says the wowstick power is too weak? Anyone can comment?

My wife gives me the same review :/

    • Fine for things like motherboard/hdd mounting screws in a computer or working on phones but anything more than that and it starts to struggle.

      • But there is manual mode, right? And the bits are the same quality as wiha (alluminium steel S2, blah blah blah)?

        • I will start with like half a turn manually and then use the motor for some screws that are just on the edge of feasibility for it. It isn't a great size or shape for doing anything manually and I don't think there is really a manual mode to isolate the bit from the motor and really get stuck into it if that's what you were wondering.
Haven't had any issues with the quality of the tips but I don't have a wiha kit to compare it to so I can't comment on that.
It has been ok for me but all in all I wish I had spent a little more and gotten something with a bit more grunt.

    • Not for me, i am a phone repairer, for such scale job, it is more powerful than i thought.

the wow stick is ok but pretty slow. I'm hanging out for the es121 screwdriver to drop under $100. they appear to be a lot faster. I'm a pc/laptop tech and spend all day pulling things apart I have used a wow stick and was not that impressed. I can unscrew faster by hand with a normal screwdriver. the build quality/finish was very nice however.

    • The build quality to me is not as good as its image, see the width of the shell, very thin

  • Would the wowstick be strong enough for flat pack furniture?

    • IKEA? Hmm from YouTube video reviews, I don't think so

    • no. this is more for small electronic devices

    • Won't have the torque. A cordless drill would be far more effective.

      • Thanks guys. Decided on a Bosch IXO which looks like it will do the job nicely.

        • Link, price, store?

          • @CyberMurning: $79 on Amazon without cash back factored. Not a bargain by any means. Cheapest approx $50 but rarely on ozbargain.

I furnish 2-3 apartments per month for my business and wanted something light and easy.

If I need better battery life I will upgrade to a drill

        • I haven't used a Bosch ixo but i have assembled plenty of IKEA stuff and some of the screws and bolts require a fair bit of effort to get in. A cordless drill will easily have the torque required and you can adjust the torque too so you don't inadvertantly wreck things. I have a cordless drill and i got a Wowstick about two weeks ago.

  • Small electrical devices at best, the torque is only 0.15Nm in comparison to a 12v Ryobi drill that delivers 30Nm of torque. The good thing is it won't strip any screw heads.
