Huawei Matebook X Pro - Alternatives to consider?

Wife decided to go and drown our old Macbook Air in a cup of tea, apparently the Mac didnt like it so much :(

Like the ultrabook form factor/weight. Long battery life is important, MX150 is desirable but the most gaming i would be doing on it would be Heroes of the Storm (MOBA).

Reviews seem good but a little hesitant due to unfamiliarity with the brand. Any alternatives out there i should consider? Looked at the decked out XPS15" but that is $1000 more…

  • ASUS Vivobook series? Most of them are lightweight ultrabook-class devices, and some offer low-end discrete GPU options like MX150 that won't break the bank.

That said the Matebook X Pro is one of the nicest windows laptops you can buy and is heavily recommended by a lot tech reviewers. It is $2000 dollars though and is a completely different league to the Vivobook S15 I just recommended.

Dell XPS you can often buy cheaper from eBay deals, you can score a i7 + GTX 1050 XPS 15 9570 for sub $1800 on some of their sales.

Hadnt looked at the Vivobook's though the screen looks average on that one. Some of those Zenbooks look intriguing though.

  • The new 2019 macbook pro and air are quite good. They've reduced the price, and are all very capable machines. They will be able to handle MOBA games quite well if you see the benchmarks and read reviews about them, despite the specs on paper.

If you are used to macs and would prefer macos, then they can be very promising options.

    • I've used Mac since 2005 but their prices keep going up and build quality has been going down. Recent Macbooks are plagued by stories of overheating, faulty keyboards etc.

No different to any other brand.

Of course, it's a decked out XPS 15, have a look at a mid-range XPS 13, which would be closer to what the Matebook X is.
