Business laptop recommendations $800-$1200

I'm looking for recommendations for a 15" business laptop with a minimum i5 processor and 1080p screen.

A decent HD webcam and backlit keyboard would be nice. Battery life should be average or better.

I run a lot of Zoom video calls that I screen record which generates a lot of heat in my old HP. I'm looking for something that can handle this well (the old HP gets so hot it shuts down) I also tend to have a lot of tabs open in Chrome.

Price $700-$1200

I would prefer to lease or zip pay this so it really needs to be available retailers rather than eBay or Amazon etc

Thanks in advance

  • Lenovo E590 is a good choice at around your price budget - https://www.lenovo.com/au/en/laptops/thinkpad/thinkpad-edge/…

    • This looks good and seem to have finance options on their site too. Thanks!

  • Have you considered something like a used Thinkpad? You can get a good deal with decent specs and there is a community doing their upgrades e.g. screen, ram etc.

    • I'm open to suggestions. Thanks, I will check it out. Have you got a link at all?

      • I know the Thinkpad subreddit can help you with what upgrades you can do with the Thinkpad. Perhaps you can look into a T440P, T470 or even a T480 if it fits your budget. You'll find the used models on ebay or Gumtree. Keep in mind some models may have limitations to what you can upgrade and may not have warranty.

Wait for TA to do another Lenovo deal on a E595.

  • Any thoughts on the ASUS VivoBooks?

    Vs

    Vivobook 15 - https://www.jbhifi.com.au/computers-tablets/laptops/asus/asu…

These look like good value for i7's and Full HD screens..

    • They're okay as consumer devices, build quality sub-par compared to real business devices. I wouldn't trust them to last as a full-time work machine.

      • +1

        Okay thanks.

I only need it to last a couple of years and my business is only an ecomm business, so no more than 3-4 hours a day usage anyway. Should be fine
