NAB Deposit ATM Ate My Money

Interestingly, when i deposited 10 $50 notes in the atm deposit (each note was not folded etc and not stuck together) it only counted 9. I normally just press yes yes but luckily i caught this and cancelled the deposit and tried again-worked.

Just a warning i guess when you're depositing cash at ATMs. Wondering if it happened to others- i think the next day they do count the cash and make sure there aren't any errors.

erm, was expecting you seek for emotional compensation or a written apology from NAB

Only works if you're pregnant though.

Compensation? There's grounds to sue here, surely!!1!

This is the second time in week that a machine eats plastic. Tough times.

    • Yep definitely a sign of the times…

    • Actually happened few weeks ago…only then i thought it would be pointless to post. Recent events changed my mind.

  • I’m never using ATM machine and shop at a grocery store again. But in all seriousness, thanks OP!

  • I second this with my own experience.

Deposited coins with incorrect counts on a weekend and it was partly resolved on Tuesday with incorrect amount (that is, I said it should be $100 but it counted $94 and on Monday, it got fixed to $96). Fortunately I did precount so it eventually got fixed further to $100 and that was with NAB.

So with notes, precount is highly recommended since I notice many branches don't do telling anymore (Eg: Eastland VIC) and they make you deposit via ATM.

    • The coin machines, at least the CBA ones, are dodgy and I believe it's deliberate. I dumped a bag of $2 coins into it (a bag of $2 coins is $50) and it counted it as $47.85. WTF? Another time at a different branch I put a bag of $1 coins in ($20) and it counted $10. Third time $10 of 50c pieces counts 8.95G. ot it resolved each time but heaps of business would just bring their change in without knowing how much is actually there and assume it's counting correctly but in reality they're getting ripped off several dollars each time. Deliberate skimming by the bank IMO. If it happened once, sure maybe an error but the wrong amount every time on different machines?

It looks like you want to see change.

This requires a thread on its own…

      • I find sometimes mine are up by a few $$. Maybe I go there after you?

So disappointed in this thread. So much potential. But all you offer is a common sense solution? What the frick? THIS IS OZBARGAIN. Common sense has no place in these forums.

Ending should have been something like:

    a) … so I rang my insurance company and demanded they resolve this.

    b) … here's a mspaint diagram of the incident. WHo is at fault, the ATM or me?

    c) … can i claim a tax deduction?

      haha

      d) …Me and a certain pregnant lady filed for class action lawsuit

  • Who deposits cash in a atm?

    • My question exactly. I thought I'd been time-warped back to 1990, but then I had forgotten about the CBA. But this is the NAB? What is the world coming to?

Where else do you do it? Many branches no longer have over the counter tellers and even the ones that do still try and push you to do it via the machine.

a lot of people do…i actually went inside the NAB to deposit it but they lady said they dont do that and to deposit it outside in the atm machine.

  • What the heck. So went today agaim to deposit 💰 and samw thimg happened. So 50% chance
I assume they use the same system for withdrawals. So gotta be careful.

    • I assume they use the same system for withdrawals.

      AW HELLL NAW!

  • Today I went to deposit on the counter. The staff counted noted using machine $400 less than what I did count in home two times ($3130 instead of $3530). Eight 50 dollar notes were missing in the count. I was not aware of the error of the machine nor mine. Another day cashier pulled out two 50 dollar notes which were not counted by the machine on the counter. But today the shit was standing on a blank face neither trying to do a recount. Next time would cancel and recount everytime. Its too late now and I can see many people had same issue which I should know before.
