$199 Sandleford Eclipse Anti-Fire Safe for $69 at Bunnings Northland. Also Cheap Garden Hoses

170

Found this today just before the store closed. It is only while stocks last.
I purchased 2 of these and there was about 10 left.

Seen a few deals on OzBargain lately with people braging about 1 off deals.
I only highlight a deal if my friends on OzBargain can get a good deal too.

FYI, they also had a selection of garden hoses reduced. Picked up a couple of $30 hoses for $10 and a $59 hose for $20. Still a few of these left when the store closed also.

Bunnings Northland, Preston, Victoria. ##EDIT: Northland now SOLD OUT but others are saying stock elsewhere.

  • guess if they have it at one bunnings, if another bunnings stock it, are they obligated to price match? LOL its not another competitor….

  • I got the impression that Bunnings are changing their range and may not stock this any more.
So it would be possible that the other stores had/have or will have these discounted also.
Not sure if the price will be the same, but I would push that they match especially as they would have paid the same wholesale price.

    • Yeah, discounted stock is usually a store specific price, and other stores don't technically have to match it due to it being clearance stock. Having said that, anyone who isn't a tool would give it to you for that price anyway.

  • How heavy is this? I know of someone who's home was broken into and the safe was carried away.

    • Judging by the safety label, i'd guess it's in the 16 to 40kg range, so it'd be a bit heavy to carry, but easy enough if you had a car waiting or something like that.

      • The box says 40kg. It is heavy but could be lifted by 1 strong adult.
I was more worried about my house burning down and this would at least help save some files and possibly a harddrive of photos. Guess if you are worried about people stealing you could bolt it down somehow.

I would hope that it would have the option for you to bolt it to the floor?

Safes like these usually have holes in the bottom so you can bolt them to the floor (using dynabolts or similar) from inside the safe. So you have to be able to open the safe to undo the bolts and move the safe.

Not sure about the term anti-fire. Fire proof is better. If you are looking for total protection for precious documents and digital storage you should look at fire and water proof. The fire will be put out by water (hopefully).

    • But if it's also water proof then you can't put out the fire with water. :)

my hoses keep getting stolen so this is a perfect bargain combination.

    Good find Asansome

Just went down there and picked one up myself there where 4 left.
It does come with a option to bolt down to the ground, a rear bolt option,
double key lock with lcd panel, and a backup battery unit just in case the battery runs out which is hand.

    All bolts and parts included.

Many Thanks for the post Asansome.

It's a nice small compact unit for the price for home use.

    • bigbird could you please do me a favour and confirm whether or not the number on your keys match the number on the barrels? Many thanks.

About 15 of them @ Bunnings Mentone (VIC) in the centre of isle 3. They also had about 5 of a different model for the same price, that is the upright version (same dimensions, just upright rather than wide) but also with a combination + key instead of these with a key + digital. I preferred the combination + key and also upright, so picked-up one of these. Great find asansome, thanks.

  • No sign of stock at Bunnings Sandown or Scoresby. Might go for arrive to Mentone.

      • a drive

    About 8 left at Mentone.
Can anyone who has purchased one please confirm the numbers on the barrels and keys…
It seems my emergency keys don't share the same barrel number but still turn. However the main keys also have a different number to the main barrel, but DO NOT turn. So I can't get in. Hope that makes sense.
    Can anyone help please?

    • all out in mentone.

This item is too heavy, won't someone think of the Burglar's back / neck / shoulders?

    • What… Are you worrying the burglar could sue you on the OH&S ground? :)

  • Guys, these are to protect papers from a fire, electronics will be damaged at much lower temps, you'll still need offsite backup.
