Seiko Prospex Turtle Automatic Diver's 200M SRP779J1 Men's Watch $379.50 (incl GST) Shipped @ Creation Watches

A good deal a Seiko Turtle diver's watch. This model features the blue and red "Pepsi" bezel.

Note: This is the "J" model and is Made in Japan (this is written at the bottom of the dial). This is different to, and usually comes at a price premium to, the "K" model which is made in Malaysia.

The Turtle is a popular model in the Seiko diver series, and a homage to Seiko classic divers from the 1970s and 1980s. It contains Seiko's workhorse 4R36 automatic movement. Case is 45mm, however given the almost square shape of the case it wears smaller and can be suitable for smaller wrists (unusual for a diver).

A good review of the Turtle can be seen here.

The non-Japanese "K" model is currently selling in Seiko's Melbourne boutique for $699.

The coupon code gives an additional 5% off to an already good price.

Highly recommend trying things on in the boutique. Clueless staff and crap prices but being able to see watched in person makes a big difference.

The OP says it wears small for 45mm, which is true because of the smaller bezel compared to the case size and also the short lug to lug distance. But I def wouldn't wear it on as small wrist under 7 inches, especially with a bracelet. I also wouldn't buy into the hype between 'J' and 'K' models. Same/Same. Solid everyday watch though.

Unless you want a Pepsi diver, Starbuy have two Turtles with bracelets for $349 express delivery with 3 year Australian warranty.

Statements that J models are actually made in Japan are misleading. J modules are also manufactured in Malaysia, sometimes even elsewhere outside of Japan. The use of the "Made in Japan" stamp is dependent on the consumer laws of the market country. To be sold in Australia it would have be replaced by something like "Designed in Japan". Only difference in value is perception and desirability.

Exactly, countries have varying laws regarding labelling the country of origin of products.

    • On these models the "Made in Japan" would most likely indicate that there were Japanese staff supervising the manufacture in Malaysia to Seiko quality standards. Yes I have a "J" model Prospex.

But if you do want a Pepsi Turtle then this is a good price. It's actually $372 with code applied. I wonder if Starbuy can price match?
