  • Superb watch but if you're a first time buyer make sure you know your case sizes for your pen wrist. I'd buy this in a heart beat if it came in a large case size for my flatter wide wrist.

ITs been under 600 a few times this year already.

If you're not in a hurry I'd wait for it to come down again cheaper if you're after one.

If you can combine it with flying overseas trip you can knock off another 10%

    • How can you get 10% off flying overseas???

        • It's for tourists.. citizens can't right…

          • @archieduh: not true - read first line in link above.

            • @Free Fall: Oh my. Didn't know.
So many questions.. wonder if it's already discussed in a forum or deal post, So I can go through them to understand. Mindblown..

            • @Free Fall: My brain is just… So help me please..
We went overseas couple of years back on a holiday. My wife bought an iPhone weeks before the trip.
Could we have claimed GST refund???
And on coming back declare the phone and as we were 3 adults, our allowance as a family could have been 900x3 = 2700 AUD and we would have not been liable to pay GST and be doing everything legally….

              • @archieduh: They don’t check usually and if they ask say it was a work phone and hide the receipt and throw away the box or keep it at home .

I’ve claimed many expensive items and just go back home as normal. No need to tell them

              • @archieduh: You can buy up to 60 days before you leave and claim the refund.

Generally they don't check when you come back in. On the one occasion I did have a customs agent check (I had a bunch of new camera gear that I had claimed on the way out) he conveniently calculated the depreciation on the now-secondhand gear to be just under the declarable limit.

                • @Astronaut Joe: My mind in blown. Is this common knowledge? What % of Ozbargainers know this. I feel I need to handover my membership card.

                  • @archieduh: The TRS has been available for at least the past 2 decades. Not sure what rock you have been living under.

                    • @SpeedRunnerLink: I know noone around me. TRS stands for Tourist.. and like everyone else I was always under the impression it is only for tourists not local. So not living under a rock.

              • @archieduh: Level up your membership for items that you cash get cash back for (Cashrewards/Shopback) + Retailer (ie: Sony) = triple bonus :)

          • @archieduh: If it’s an international flight citizens can claim too.

Keeping an eye out on this. $620 doesn't seem like a big discount.

  • The chronograph function stops after 60 minutes.

    This is my daily driver.

Gorgeous watch. Get plenty of compliments for it.

    I think I got it for $599.

  • Wil the battery die if I leave it in my room that has normal light coming in but is not placed directly under sunlight near the window.

    • No, as long as it gets some indirect light it will be fine. Can start charged for months without any light at all

    • I don't really put my solar watches in direct sunlight unless I'm outside wearing one.

Can someone please explain to a watch noob what makes watches like this so appealing? And watches that actually look good (IMO) are considered cheap brands. For example, I can’t understand for the life of me why Rolex, Tag Heuer, etc are so expensive. I don’t look at them and think wow, nice watch. I wouldn’t even look at this and think wow, nice watch. Perhaps it’s a case of, IYKYK.

I guess that's why there's so many styles and budgets. Just buy what you find appealing and don't worry about the others.

Thanks for your reply. We were at dinner tonight and my cousins Mrs who works at a jewellery store scrunched her face when I asked her opinion about TW Steel. I personally love them and this is what I was wearing: https://twsteel.com.au/products/ce4071?srsltid=AfmBOoovb71TJ…
How are they perceived by watch enthusiasts?

        • Can you please upload a wrist shot with your username written on a piece of paper? Once you do this I can give you a reply. Thanks.

I like TWS, many do not.
First became aware of them when I was still into F1. One of the teams had prominent sponsor logos on the cars. I thought it was a dumb name at the time.

Then Starbuy were clearing these at $50 each.

They combined elements I liked so I just had to. Do note they're not the supplied straps, but standard ones are also silicone.

More recently, I saw these TWS at WD for a tempting price, but many here turned their noses up at them when I posted the deal.

Link in the middle of text still works but there's just black dials now. Cheap sapphire crystal kinda dressy watch!

Same price at Watch Depot (and Linda & Co.), but with "$20 off your first purchase" comes down to $600.

    https://www.watchdepot.com.au/products/seiko-prospex-speedti…

Personally I got it for $583, as it was $599 - $20 discount + $4 delivery back then, but it's an awesome watch and would buy even for $600.
