It be easier to just move the tv.

Or install a cat5/6 socket near the tv.

    Buy a long cable.

  • My electrician friend says it would be pretty easy for him to move our HFC connection point.
So it might depend on what kind of connection it is and how easy it is to get access to the wall.

How easy it is will depend on the construction of your unit, which is not something that we can tell without physically seeing it. Moving the cable might be anywhere from a piece of cake to an impossibility.

Why do you need your NBN outlet to be near your TV anyway? Do you just need an internet connection to your TV? Can't you use wireless?

    • It is handy if you have a bunch of wifi devices near your TV and you want to stream 4k videos.

Although that being said, I have 1 bar of reception on all of my devices next to my OLED and they all seem to handle streaming just fine.

  • Use wifi. If your TV has ethernet only, then get a wifi extender with an ethernet port like this one off Kogan

    • Any recommendations on one of those things that can do 5ghz?

      • The Netgear AC1200 is what I use and has 5ghz access plus the ethernet port

Or use powerline extender, better than a wifi extender in my home anyway.

    • Either/or - I use wifi range extenders with fantastic coverage.

  • If you're renting, you won't be able to move the point without asking the landlord, too…

  • Are you renting or do you own the unit?

    • Probably renting since OP doesnt know where to go for his solution.

      Plus, Member Since…

  • Have you ever thought about AIMesh system? Or normal wifi mesh system will do the same job. Simply connect the Mesh router part to your NBN receiver, then put the satellite part near your TV and use the Lan port to connect to your TV (well, follow the instruction or manual), then DONE.

    • The OP said his TV was on the other side of the room to the NBN connection point. A mesh system to cross from one side to the other of a single room seems a bit of overkill.
