Has Anyone Owns Hikeit Performance Throttle Controller and Can Provide Comment on The Effectiveness of The Product

Has anyone used one of these throttle controller units before?

I cannot find any unbiased review on this particular unit.

Would like some opinion as to whether this type of product does work or simple waste of money and could damage the car in anyway.

Thanks!!

I would get one of these and add a hiclone and a fuel polariser as well. But with all that extra power, you may need to upgrade your muffler bearings…

    • A few things:

Australian diesel fuel has a higher sulphur content than European fuel, so you will need the programmable polariser. It's a lot more expensive but will save you from the dreaded P045D/P0407 EGR fault.

You can also do away with the muffler bearings altogether if you are using the vehicle for motorsport. Sure, it's a lot louder, but you should be within the required dB range for most events. Your Hiclone supplier can provide kits for most engines at a price.

Good idea also to swap out your standard input shafts for a titanium alloy ones. It really makes a difference with power transfer.

Should I do that at the same time as I change my blinker fluid?

      • Probably not right now, but definitely doable in the near future.

Although changing/topping up your blinker fluid appears to be a straight forward process, the fluid is hard to buy. I have looked everywhere for it and have been unsuccessful.

This has led me to develop my own product, which will be on the market very soon.

I have two basic products; a bulk RTU product for frequent users, along with a concentrate that just requires the addition of filtered water.

You will also be available to purchase the product in a range of shades designed to improve your vehicle's impression ratio.

      • Most overlooked thing is not changing your tyre air.

You pump your tyres up in Summer and it comes Winter and you have hot Summer air inside along with the cold Winter air outside and what happens… Yep condensation on the inside of your tyres causing them to rot where you cant see them which is dangerous.

So in winter it's critical to let all the air out of all tyres and fill them with matching winter air. Same again in Spring, Summer and Autumn.

  • I can't comment on that particular brand but I have the DTE Pedalbox on 2 cars (both VW turbo engines) and they definitely perform as advertised. There are plenty of positive reviews on the net. Ordered direct from Germany but I think there is an Australian distributor

They don't do all the things claimed on the website.

    What they do:
Throttle pedal mapping isn't linear. Many maps tend to come on slow (VW do it), so you'll get 25% throttle opening in the first 40% of travel and the remaining 75% in the last 60% of travel. These boxes tend to straighten out the pedal mapping so that 1=1.

Is that a good box? I have no idea. The boxes for VWs work well according to those that bought them. Personally, I just put my foot down harder and use more pedal…

You don't say what car you have but on VW product you can change the pedal map from say Golf to Audi TT (which is quicker to give the impression of sportiness) using VCDS, OBD11, etc.

  • Just get a tune.

  • No idea about this brand, but i got one of the original 4wdsupacenter units for $50 and it's made a significant difference to the driveability, gotten rid of the throttle lag and improved fuel consumption by around 0.5l/100. This is on a diesel D4D engine, been worth every penny.
