Hi All,

Long time lurker.

Noticed some cheap flights from Newcastle to Auckland (NTL-AKL-NTL). They do this direct service 3 times a week during NOV-FEB. From Sydney it usually costs alot more.

You get your usual 1x23kg check in bag, food and wifi entertainment.

Tried these travel dates:

26NOV-03DEC - $294.39AUD
03DEC-10DEC - $294.39AUD
12DEC-17DEC - $294.39AUD
21JAN-28JAN - $294.39AUD
30JAN-06FEB - $294.39AUD
09FEB-13FEB - $294.39AUD

Not sure how long this deal will last but enjoy.

cant seem to replicate that price
    seeing $199 + $135 for each leg

    • The booking summary on the right panel will state $294.39AUD

  • Virgin attempting to increase their 54% average loading. Bring on the discounts!

    • Doesn't help that it doesn't get into akl until 12:30am

Rather annoying flight time for what is a short flight

      • Why does the flight time change how annoying the arrival time is? I'd imagine a 1230am arrival would be equally annoying on a long flight, unless you're factoring in fatigue?

well considering where we are in the world, flying 10+ hours to other major overseas destinations you have to take crappy times as part and parcel with the joys of living so far away

The fact this is a couple of hours to the east just makes a midnight arrival 'more' annoying that how annoying it would already be if it was US or EU type locations

          Just compounded annoyingness ;)

    • What does this loading bit mean?

Government statistics had this flight route at 54% full. So they are flying at half empty probably losing a lot of cash.

        • Oh I see. Thanks

@Bellpop: But the government and local tourism body is subsiding the route so they probably making money.
