[Android] This War of Mine - $2.89, [iOS] $2.99 (RRP $17.99) @ Google Play Store & iTunes

830

Thanks to pretz it's $2.99 @ iTunes

In This War Of Mine you do not play as an elite soldier, rather a group of civilians trying to survive in a besieged city; struggling with lack of food, medicine and constant danger from snipers and hostile scavengers. The game provides an experience of war seen from an entirely new angle.

The pace of This War of Mine is imposed by the day and night cycle. During the day snipers outside stop you from leaving your refuge, so you need to focus on maintaining your hideout: crafting, trading and taking care of your survivors. At night, take one of your civilians on a mission to scavenge through a set of unique locations for items that will help you stay alive.

Make life-and-death decisions driven by your conscience. Try to protect everybody from your shelter or sacrifice some of them for longer-term survival. During war, there are no good or bad decisions; there is only survival. The sooner you realize that, the better.

I have this game in pc, switch and now on mobile. One of the best game I played.

This game is so frustrating. Takes most of the day to walk a character from one side of the building to the other ;). You waste so much time doing the basics every day. The "action" stuff is alright though.

Double tap/click to get them to run.

      • Are you serious? Then they need food, water, rest, sleep, they get sad cause their muscles hurt etc etc. ;)

This game deserves to be purchased at the original price. One of the most beautiful and purposeful videos games I've ever played. This game has made me hate war even more.

    • i don't think most people like war to begin with
except for some soldiers who want some action or the people who are starting the war.

but when you play this game
it makes you more empathetic to those people that are living in war zones that are occurring right now or have occurred..
like those civilians living in the ISIS war zone etc..

as you get more and more worse everyday..
this game is quite depressing actually..

      • Indeed, not everyone likes war. But unfortunately, those who like it, do exist and are significant enough to cause troubles for those who don't like it.

How are the controls on mobile? I find a few games frustrating and end up jumping on the laptop with a mouse to play instead.

    • you can hook up a USB mouse on android if need be
Done it before for Tales of Illyria

      • +1

I tend to not take a mouse with me on public transport lol.

  • In the old unpatched PC version, a freak temperature drop would happen very late in the game (when it had been warming up for several days) and someone would just froze and died overnight, 2-3 days from the ceasefire.
To this day I never figured out if it was a genuine bug, or an attempt to hammer home the point:
in modern war … you will die like a dog for no good reason
