Seiko 5 Sports Bottle Cap Automatic SRPC68K $189 Delivered @ Starbuy

80

Hi everyone! This is my first post on OzBargain, so forgive me if the deal has been posted before, or I break a rule

Been looking at the new bottlecap range from Seiko, which I think look pretty cool! Noticed today that the special edition SRPC68K (with the bronze bezel and root beer dial) is only $189 on Starbuy. Considering it is an automatic with 100m water resistance and a stainless steel case, I think its a solid price (it was $299 a few days ago).

Have ordered from Starbuy a couple of times in the past and have had no issues with them :)

NOTE that it does not have a screw-down crown as stated on the Starbuy website

I have this exact model, in fact i'm wearing it today. While the case size is big it wears ok as the lugs are tiny and angled down - so tiny i've seen guys put cheap mesh straps from amazon on these and even without endlinks they look great from the top view because the spring bars are almost covered by the case - on my 8in wrist I can still see a finger tip width of wrist either side of the lugs from a top down view (I also wear my watch at the wrist joint the slimmest part, if you wear higher up like a lot of people seem to do you will probably be fine. I can also confirm it does not have a screw down crown so please update that. I paid $175 from StarBuy when it first came into stock there which is the cheapest any brand new bottle cap model has been, even for grey stock. There is also a bracelet, black pvd and electric blue dial version available but I have not seen anyone stock it locally for less than $300. These also have drilled lug holes for easier strap changes if thats your jam and the movement is handwindable and hackable.

    • Yes I have heard that it wears quite small for a 45mm, and that the lugs have a very sharp downwards angle. Took a chance and bought one…still unsure if ill keep the nato on it or try another strap. What are the bezel and dial colour like in person?

Also, thanks for the info on the crown. I was just going off the website, which says it has a screw-down. Will update the description

      • Yeah no worries I saw it had that on the website too but none of the seiko 5's to my knowledge have screw down. In terms of colour the bezel is lighter than the pictures show - its sort of between as it is displayed in the pictures and rose gold in colour. The dial is a flat brown and is represented fairly well by the pictures.

I'm looking into getting a leather strap for mine but am undecided on what colour - the brown dial is actually kind of hard to match things to.

  • This or Citizen Eco-Drive 200m Dive Watch BN0193-17E

    So tempted.

edit: Price back up to $299 =(

    • I see $249 for the Citizen.

The Seiko and the Citizen are two very different watches. The Seiko is an automatic while the Citizen is quartz on solar. The Seiko is WR100 while the Citizen is WR200 and an ISO certified diver. The two cannot be compared beyond being similarly priced and similarly styled.
