PSA/Warning Fastway Couriers Being Rebranded to Aramex

Some people may not be aware of this already but Fastway are currently transitioning to rebrand known as Aramex. A lot of people avoid this courier company like the plague with myself included where we avoid suppliers/ebay users that use them. This is just a heads up don't be fooled by the new name as it will be just the same unbelievably shocking service as we have all known to loathe. Cheers

Thank you very much for this. I will have nothing to do with Fastway and now Aramex.

    Fastway are absolutely useless.

Fastway are the worst courier service we have used by far…
most of our pickups have remained uncollected up to 2 days after expected pick-up date.
Complaining to Fastway has no effect - they simply offer to re-book the pickup and then the parcel sits another few days without being picked up - we simply cannot support them if they make us look bad in the eyes of our customers.
Most times (today included) I have had to cancel the consignment and book with an alternative courier company.
Never again Fastway - or whatever you choose to call yourselves in future… Unlike you, we really value our customers and cannot afford for your poor service to tarnish our brand.

    Thanks for the info.

It is a real problem for consumers, but I'm not sure that sellers are aware (or fully aware) of sales they may be missing out on due to their choice of couriers. If they were, they may offer a choice of different couriers for the deliveries.

  • I like StarTrack but only their express service. Their regular service takes just as long as Fastway, the Pony Express was faster.

I've never had a problem with fastway which seems weird from all the hate. I get my brewing supplies from them and it arrives in a day or two always on time.

    • Most courier companies On-Time Delivery metric is close to 100, high 90's. Look at reviews of all couriers, they all catch the same negative reviews from whiny retail customers.

      • Bahaha,
        Yeah umm no.
        That's probably for contract customers.

It's a moving piece and also depends on allowances and exceptions, and this is played with a lot.
Allowances and exceptions mean nothing to the normal customer.

Some companies don't even measure delivery but only collection.

        • This is v true. An unprocessed DIFOT would be closer to high 80s, low 90s.

    • Same with us! You don’t get it through Hervey Bay homebrew do you? Fast way is by far the best courier company in my neighbourhood.

Fastway was acquired by Aramex in 2016.

Fastway was a courier delivery services corporation headquartered in Napier, New Zealand. The company currently operates in Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, and South Africa. The company has operated as a franchise since 1984, with franchising at the regional and courier level. - wikipedia

Aramex is an international express, mail delivery and logistics services company based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The company was founded by Jordanian Fadi Ghandour and Bill Kingson in 1982. It is the first Arab-based company to be listed on the NASDAQ stock exchange. - wikipedia

Perhaps they're making the change away from the franchise model which obviously is hit and miss with quality. Several years ago, my work Fastway courier was good, but had issues with my local courier, so would avoid them personally.

Never had any trouble with Fastway and I've used them a lot (as a receiver). Got a parcel from the yesterday and they now have a 'track your driver' feature which hows the drivers location on a map. I imagine that'd be a PITA for the drivers though?

    • +1

Wait, how do you access "track your driver" function?

      • +1

They sent me an email on the day of delivery with a link (yesterday).

  • +4

Fastway service of delivery is highly dependent on which franchise

  • +1

I'd trust Fastway more than my local postie.

Thanks for the heads up. Not a fan of FastWay at all. Live in Perth and their tracking always goes to picked then nothing till the day it's out for delivery. Always takes longer than any other delivery company by far.

    • Took 2 weeks from them receiving a Monitor to them delivering it.
      Brisbane to Perth.
Bought a second monitor from Amazon via Australia Post and it took 4 days in total.
The fastway tracker was just "yeap we got it" for two weeks then a notification of "hey its coming tomorrow". Logically it went via Melbourne or Sydney, since the order started in Brisbane, but there was no update.

I (profanity) avoid them like the plague.

      • 2 weeks minimum for Bris or Gold Coast to Perth is my typical experience with them. Had a delivery from regional Qld, Mckay, that was 2.5 weeks. Got something from Adelaide this week from them, 10 working days. I haven't found them unreliable or anything like that, they are just slow.

  • And they in my area just put it in the Letterbox, rather than knock on door, and thats even when I need to sign.

I even complained about one of my 99c Ebay purchases which was coming via Fastway, which I was supposed to have signed for. Thought that might get some action, but ebay just refunded me the 99c (It was one of those special ebay deals). So while I was 99c better off i still havent been able to talk with the fastway driver to tell them not to put in the letterbox but deliver to door and have me sign for it.

Problem is I have no idea who is using them. eg an Amazon delivery from, USA is now being delivered by Fastway.

Lol, love Fastway where i live, delivery is always around 7:30am, lady pats the dog has a chat and goes on her way. If i could i would get every delivery with Fastways.
Hate to burst the whinging bubbles but thats how it is for us. Nth coast NSW.

Just because it is good in your area doesn't make people whingers for stating it is sh*t in their area.

      • +1

        thanks for your useless comment.

  • Fastway is so bad they had to change their name.

Last 3 orders that were sent by them from ebay went straight to their 3rd party collection point, one attempted delivery was listed at 4 am.

    Terrible company.

  • So from what I am reading in the comments; the transition from a hit and miss franchise to a single company can only be a good thing for OzBargainers? We will see in time when the reports start coming in from people's experiences with Aramex.

It is more just a trend in the transport industry — increased consolidation because the smaller fish are continually struggling to compete, particularly when regulation is (rightfully) tighter than ever.

  • Amarax is a horrible name compared to Fastway

    • +4

      Luckily that's not their name

    • Probably avoiding a lawsuit based upon false advertising.

  • Fastway is hit and miss. My local franchisee is either overworked or very slack. Last delivery from Amazon US took three weekdays from being loaded on board at the local depot "for delivery today" to actually being delivered, and that was after me calling customer service to find out what was going on. I avoid them. I find TNT and Toll to be the best in my area.

  • Had one drop my playstation classic over the fence :( …Luckily not broken

    • Reminds me of the Australia Post "package on the roof" story

      • lol, also found when searching for that story "Australia Post worker sacked after he's caught urinating in customer's plant"

  • Starting a new Brand / Trading name is like going back to ZERO.

    Unknown brand = no credibility
    Heavy discounting to get re-established
Big marketing spend to get known

    Desperate times for Fastway !

Maybe somebody bought the company or a new MD and thought its time to start again

  • Fastway are champions of failing to knock, sitting in the truck for a minute, and sending a "you weren't home" SMS. Meanwhile, the front door was open. Busted.

  • +1

These guys make Aust Post look great

  • Not sure what all the hate is for, i get stuff with fastway all the time here and it's fine. Everything is generally ATL at the front door or letterbox and don't have an issue, although we live in a not-very-built-up suburban area.

Feel sorry for the drivers though, that'd be a pretty low paid and crappy job.

    • I suspect that you live in Sydney or Melbourne.

    • They've had a 0% success rate delivering packages for me.

  • Fastway managed to somehow take 2 weeks (from them receiving the item) to ship something from Brisbane to Perth. This was just a monitor. I ended up buying a second monitor from Amazon and it got to me in 4 days from Melbourne.
    Good PSA, good to know!

  • Last time, i ordered something on amazon, they used fastway. My delivery keep beeing delay with no schedule . Have to call them and told them that if i don't see the package by 9 a.m the next morning, there s no need for them to attempt delivery at a later date as i will seek a cancellation and refund from amazon. End up having my package at 8 am. Good go know they are changing name as they are unreliable.

    • Last time, i ordered something on amazon, they used fastway as well. They ended up losing the package and I got refunded.
Prior to that, fastway lost 3 other packages (small watches and shit from here), and even made me drive to the other side of Melbourne to collect one, which turned out to be lost.
I tried to boycott them, but today I got another "We missed you" letter. Whichever (profanity) on ebay cheaped out and used fastway will be getting negative feedback one I figure out who it was.

  • Are you sure this a simple re-branding?

Aramex is an existing courier in other parts of the world (massive presence in the Middle East); if they are taking over Fastway's existing business as a means of entering the AUS market then this will be a good thing.

  • I think Fastway can be ok as long as nothing goes wrong and you don't have to contact them. I am currently stuck in a world of hell with them because I addressed something to an Auspost parcel locker without knowing Fastway were the courier and they don't deliver to parcel lockers.

It's been almost 2 weeks with the package stuck at the depot undeliverable. I've tried everything to get it redirected. Contacted the sender, contaced fastway about 5 times. They always promise to fix it, they just never actually do anything.
